  1. Of all the players on this squad, Correa has to come up with the bases loaded in the eighth inning. I told my wife; this is going to be a double play. No sooner got the words out of my mouth, when he hit into his major league leading double play. Just think if we had Garver catching today, and they had Christian Vasquez.
  2. In Pagan's defense, his first walked batter should have been a strikeout. The 2-2 pitch was a great strike that was missed. He let his frustration with that pitch throw him off the rest of the inning.
  3. Next month as we watch Cleveland celebrate another Central title, we will look back at this game. Can anyone really blame Sonny Gray for wanting to pitch somewhere else next season?
  4. Some thoughts after tonight's game - - Someone please tell me that Vazquez's contract is only for two years - Gallo still on the roster tells us that the front office is willing to sacrifice games to save face - Correa needs to bat lower in the order - Royce Lewis is a baseball player - I take back every bad thought I have ever had about Max Kepler
  5. How did Correa get in position to make the cutoff throw to home plate? And what a throw it was. I rip him all the time for his hitting, but he is absolutely incredible in the field.
  6. Blame it on James Rowson, who teaches contact as a way to score runs.
  7. Everyone plays with more passion and spark than we do. But as I have stated many times, this team is a reflection of their manager.
  8. Detroit is better at every aspect of the game. They picked Holton up off waivers and here we are in desperate need of a left hander in the bullpen.
  9. Don't care how far the throw was from the bag, it went right through his glove. His defense is as bad as I have ever seen from a professional player.
  10. Maybe it's for the best, as one of the commentators stated on the MLB program that no team had a worse deadline trading result than the Twins last year with the Lopez and Mahler trades.
  11. A couple of quick questions: When did Alex Kiriloff turn into Joey Gallo? and When did Johan Duran turn into Emillo Pagan?
  12. You can't put this one on Baldelli. The question is how much longer until Thielbar and Stewart return? The current bullpen outside of Jax and Duran offers very little. Moran can't throw strikes, Pagan gives up homers at the worst possible moments, whoever heard of Ortega before he showed up in the bullpen, Balazovic is still learning, Jorge Lopez is lost, and Cole Sands reminds me of Cole DeVries, who a beat writer once stated, "I am amazed every time Cole DeVries gets a major league hitter out". Falvey stated the other day that middle relief was the main objective at the trading deadline. Let's hope they can bring some help in at that point. Also, would someone please get Julien a hat that fits and the play he mishandled would have been played by Polanco and most major league second baseman. Tough play, but they are after, all major leaguers. Lastly, I have started guessing how many pitches it will take to strike out Gallo and Larnach during each of their plate appearances. Believe it or not, I am getting pretty good at it.
  13. No one seems to be talking about what they are going to do when Lewis returns. He is, in my opinion, our best baseball player. He has to be somewhere in this lineup.
  14. It seems that early on every time we had scoring opportunities, either Solano or Taylor would strike out. Both had terrible games at the plate. Vasquez hitting for Wallner is a head scratcher.
  15. The next time the Baltimore Orioles call to discuss a trade, I would advise our front office not to answer the phone.
  16. We need Julien's bat but not his glove or arm.
  17. They are too analytical at the plate. Time to go back to basic "see ball, hit ball". Sano had his best years when working with Cruz. If someone can make a productive hitter out of him, imagine what he could do with the rest of the lineup.
  18. Solano at first for the time being, move Kiriloff to left. Release Gallo. Polanco and Lewis will be back by August. Castro and Farmer man third base until then. Julien can't catch cold, and Miranda brings nothing to the table. The biggest problem on this team, IMO, is Buxton at DH. I know I am beating a dead horse here, but his current role not only takes the game's best centerfielder out of the game but blocks a Nelson Cruz type DH from hitting in the lineup as well.
