  1. Yes, next spring put him in left field and leave him there.
  2. Now the entire country knows that this team is a fraud. Incompetent manager, leaky bullpen and little league defense. I don't know what is worse, Brooks Lee's fielding or hitting? And who is that guy impersonating Royce Lewis? It's September, we are in a playoff hunt using the Saints outfield. Why didn't Farmer go to second and Julien to first? At least Julien has played first. The Kevin Cash pitching philosophy works in Tampa because they have a strong bullpen. We don't. I know I will get blasted for this statement, but perhaps it would be best if Boston or Seattle grabs the third playoff spot to avoid us being embarrassed against the Yankees or Baltimore.
  3. So great to have Louie back. Same guy he was in the spring. What a joke!!
  4. True story. I had an appointment with my cardiologist this morning who stated that as a seventy-year-old with a heart condition I should avoid situations that are stressful and raise my blood pressure. My wife then told him about my reaction to last night's game. He said if the games caused me to get that emotional, I should consider just reading the box scores the next day. I then asked him if I could just watch the games until we went to the bullpen. He laughed and said to do whatever to avoid the stress. So, from here on in, I will watch the game until the bullpen starts stirring and read later how the disaster unfolded after I quit watching.
  5. Has anyone considered Myles Straw in centerfield for us? As I sit here watching the Cleveland-KC game, they were discussing him and what with Cleveland apparently done with him, he could help us. I know he is limited offensively, but he can catch and throw, something Margot and/or Martin cannot. And it is become highly apparent that Buxton cannot play an entire season. Just a thought, but this situation is getting highly frustrating.
  6. I still think his ultimate position is left field. He has the arm strength and athleticism to handle the position. Lee can play third, Castro at second, and Miranda at first or DH. Of course, all this is assuming that we get our shortstop back soon. While on the subject on outfield, it sure looks like both Wallner and Larnac are set to man the corners for several years. Now if we can only keep Buxton healthy. Castro and Martin can be backup centerfielders with Lewis moving to second when Castro is in center and Larnac in left.
  7. Just let them have this game. Save our pitching and we will see them again tomorrow night.
  8. It looks like Lee will be back today, most likely meaning that Julien is sent down, Castro back to second until CC gets back. The concern for both CC and Buxton is growing by the day. Kiriloff may be done as a Twin. We are way past the time that Farmer and Margot should have been DFA'd. I like the idea of Varland in the pen but not the rotation. Finally, maybe the best things to come out of this season will be the growth of both Larnac and Wallner and Festa and Matthews getting a feel of the major leagues. There is no longer any doubt that Kepler will be gone as both Larnac and Wallner appear ready to take his place. This winter the Twins need to not only acquire a top left-handed reliever but also a right-hand hitting outfielder.
  9. Polanco makes that play in his sleep. He probably makes the earlier play where Julien looked like a little leaguer. Rocco said afterwards that "Julien makes that play 99 times out of 100". If that is so, why do you replace him defensively in most games in late innings?
  10. With Austin Martin, perhaps our best bunter, at the plate. This game was not Rocco's finest hour.
  11. The problem is that by carrying dead weight like Margot, it removes the ability to have a real second baseman on hand. I know that that is the reason Farmer is on the team to replace the gloveless wonder late in games, but Rocco completely negated that opportunity today with his managing.
  12. I have been saying for years that Julien is not a major league player. Yes, Rocco managed horribly but my question is why that guy is on this team?
  13. Boy we were close to going 6-1 on this trip without Buxton and Correa. I may be alone in this opinion, but I really like Trevor Plouffe in the booth.
  14. There is no way this team can be successful with the current structure of the bullpen. BTW, Correa and Buxton are not relief pitchers. The bullpen has been a major problem all season and still cannot believe that the front office did not acquire a left-hander at the trading deadline. So, this season is essentially going down the drain due to an inadequate bullpen and front office ineptitude. How frustrating!!
  15. Where is going to play at on this team? Not so sure he was "looking good" at AAA. Must admit I have never been a big fan of his as I just see a lot of issues with his game.
  16. Julien is completely lost at the plate and is going to get hurt playing second. That line drive that hit off his glove tonight could have been serious.
  17. Twins are saying that the reason for the IL stint is because they are not sure he would be able to play the next five or six games. With a seven-game road trip ahead, they thought it would be wise to carry as many able bodies as they could. All indications are that he should be able to go when they get back home.
  18. At the end of the season, when we bemoan the games, we could have won, this may be one that we look back at as one that we should have lost.
  19. No. I would rather we throw some young arms in there and see what happens.
  20. I think my basic problem with the trade is the front office's perpetual trading decisions with regards to injured pitchers. As I watched Tyler Mahle pitch for Texas the other night, it reminded me of the great prospects we traded for a fellow who most can't remember pitching for us. The Lamone Wade jr. trade and many others for pitchers who did not log more than 50 innings with us. I just don't understand the logic behind it.
