  1. Different order.... but Top 4 are gone..... what do the Twins do?
  2. I don't think a 2 year extension should bother anyone. A year to recover and possibly pitch late next year and 2025 to "prove" or showcase himself that's he's back. Could be part of 2025 or could turn into a trade chip and the salary would be lower than you would find on the market.
  3. Because of off the field stuff? Outside of the Joc Pederson fantasy football tiff, I don't know much about him in that sense. He would seemingly be the exact type of player the Twins could use. Right handed, OF bat, expiring contract and is actually playing quite well this year. His OPS+ is higher than anyone on the Twins roster right now and his OPS of .928 against lefties would be very welcomed.
  4. Buxton has a full no trade clause and worked hard with the front office to stay in Minnesota. He wanted to be here. He's not going anywhere.
  5. Pablo was brilliant. He pounded the zone all night long. There was only a small handful of ABs that he didn't throw a first pitch strike, so refreshing to see.
  6. At this point you would have to assume he opts in, but that's a long ways down the road. I also think the Twins would have given him that 4 year extension...just not the rest. I think that's the thing about trades, we always want a clear winner and loser, but trades can often times just come out eh or even in the long run. Obviously, we won't know for awhile. It was Berrios and Ober, which I understand is a pretty SSS, Ober has injury problems in the past and not a fantastic comparison, but I have seen his name in a couple trade proposal threads, which would be quite crazy to me.
  7. This will be an interesting topic to discuss for years to come. Interesting to note the Twins have 4 starters with better numbers than Jose this year and his big money in his extension doesn't kick in until next year. I think the real question should be, would you as a Twins fan be good with Berrios on the same contract and still in a Twins uniform? It's a long contract and a lot of money to dish out if remains just a mid-rotation-ish starter. Just for reference: 3.74 ERA, 4.10 FIP. 8.47 K/9, 2.5 BB/9, 0.5 WPA - 5.94 Innings per start 2.70 ERA, 3.43 FIP. 8.69 K/9, 1.76 BB/9, 1.4 WPA - 5.86 innings per start Any guess the comparison?
  8. So nice to see the vets starting to heat up. Maeda and Kepler showing why you don't DFA veterans in April-May, much to the dislike of many posters around here. Kep has to be one of the best hitters in baseball the last two weeks. I love the passion Kenta shows out of the mound too. Buck looks like he is seeing the ball so much better. He looked absolutely lost at the plate for a while... so nice to see him back.
  9. Cano: 40.1 IP, 1.12 ERA, 2.05 FIP, 8.3 K/9, 6.17 K/BB, 3.1 WPA Bautista: 38.2 IP, 1.16 ERA, 1.60 FIP, 18.4 K/9, 4.65 K/BB, 2.0 WPA Jansen: 28.2 IP, 3.45 ERA, 3.01 FIP, 11.0 K/9, 2.92 K/BB, -0.3 WPA Clase: 39.2 IP, 3.40 ERA, 2.63 FIP, 8.2 K/9, 3.27 K/BB, -0.9 WPA Duran: 32.2 IP. 1.93 ERA, 3.41 FIP. 11.8 K/9, 2.87 K/BB, 1.4 WPA
  10. The term and position of "closer" is outdated. Duran is the Twins best relief arm and it's not even debatable. Him being called upon to get the bats out in the lineup in late game situations SHOULD be his go to. What's the advantage of using him in "exclusively in save situations?" You should want your best arm facing the top and heart of the opponents order, that's who your biggest threat is, especially late in games. Letting a "closer" just pitch the ninth of a game to close a game is underutilizing your best arm. Saves are a sexy statistic, but not a practical one.
  11. It should be both. 1 run is obviously not going to cut it. But Duran was off. 1 good contact ball off of him. 2 walks, a bloop and a HBP is tough from your dominant closer
  12. Most likely right unless Caleb was healthy. Would have been an interesting decision. Both Adley and Santander hit better as lefties against RHP than the other way around.
  13. Team only struck out 6 times and 3 against Bautista in the 9th. A lot of soft contact today. Pop ups, lazy flies, etc. Leaving RISP in the 1st, 4th and 5th really set the tone.... and not for the positive.
  14. Agreed. It's probably Thielbar's job when healthy actually. I don't blame Rocco for being gunshy with Moran though.
  15. Tough position. If Duran is his good usual self we don't second guess. I'm wondering is Brock doesn't start that inning if he was healthy.
  16. Compete Twins win. 6 post game comments. It's almost poetic that masses can only find things to talk about when the team loses. Buck, Correa, Kep and Gallo combined 7/14, 2 BB, 7 runs scored, 6 RBI. The team needs more games like this from their vets. Build off the positives from tonight boys.
  17. Colome was taken out of the closer role before April ended and given to Rogers/Robles. He was a part in 4 losses in that time period though, but less than a month isn't THAT slow, especially coming off the 2020 season he had. The only reason he got it back because Rogers got injured in July and never returned.
  18. Gray already gave up the go ahead HR to Ozuna anyways. The play on Harris should have been made by AK or Gray and they should have been out of the inning. Not to mention that Acuna is the front runner for MVP, it's not like some slouch took Pagan deep. Sometimes you just get beat by great players. The Twins got beat by Strider and Acuna. Sometimes it's okay to not throw blame around and admit you got beat by great guys. 🤷‍♂️
  19. Good lord. The Twins win 4/5 then lose one game on the road to the ace of quite possibly the best and hottest team in baseball and everyone jumps off the deep end again.
  20. It's too bad Gray couldn't finish out the 7th. I'm surprised they let him pitch to Harris, who already had two solid hits against him tonight.
  21. IMO there's no way Lewis or Lee are going anywhere. I know Goldy is the reigning MVP, but he's soon to be 36 and outside of 2019 it's the lowest it's been in over a decade. That being said.... I'm not sure who the Twins would offer. If the Cards move him, the deadline would probably be when his value is at its highest.
  22. I'd be pretty shocked at this point if Mr. Ryan isn't invited to Seattle for the game to join Duran.
  23. I'm willing to bet that Royce doesn't see AAA unless he is rehabbing an injury. He's here to stay.
  24. McCutchen has been the primary DH in Pittsburgh, only playing 7 games in the OF. Gallo has logged 200 innings at 1B and 210 in the OF. Gallo having experience at 1B with Kiriloff being a huge question mark this offseason had to come into play. I just don't see how you can directly compare the signings. Brandon Drury proving that his breakout year at age 29 wasn't a fluke. Having a very solid year for the Angels. He would have been a nice addition.
