  1. They are never going to pinch hit Correa. Vasquez went 0-5 and left 7 on base. Jeffers hitting for him in the 7th was my move.
  2. That's just not modern baseball though. Yes, your superstar players will get the majority of the ABs, but platooning is more than likely here to stay. Now.... only Correa being qualified is kinda nuts, but if Jorge, Lewis and AK had been healthy all year, you would have to imagine they would be there too. With advanced metrics and stats, you just aren't going to see a lefty in the lineup too often if he hits 100-150 points less vs LHP than RHP, even if he is a stud.
  3. I can't even imagine. Bryon seems like such an emotional and competitive person. Not being able to compete send do what you know you are capable of has to be so extremely hard on him. It's so easy for us to upset and frustrated with him, it's easy to forget that he's a class athlete and he probably wants to be on the field way worse than any fan wants him out there. Looking back, it makes so much sense and it's so easy to understand the extreme emotion he shows when he hits a 460 foot HR. So much talent. I just hope they can find some solution so we can see be blessed to see him in the field again.
  4. Man... not that it's surprising, but this just bums me out.
  5. Can you really say a team gave away a game by only scoring 1 run?
  6. It's probably bad that I really thought it was an outdoor park
  7. I'm not watching this game..... but is it unreasonably hot in Texas? Mad Max out after 88 pitches is nuts. Ryan being lifted after 74 makes me wonder.
  8. Luplow just earned his season paycheck
  9. If they assume or know the corresponding move with Miranda will make him available, does it matter? Obviously I don't know this, but would be pretty insanely weird if it wasn't the case.
  10. As far as I understand it, a player would just need to be on the 40 man. Optioning a player would have no barring that I'm aware of.
  11. If they lose said petition, it would be a real head scratcher. Gotta assume they know the scenerio and it should be fine. If not...I have no words.
  12. He couldn't be added to the active roster yesterday. If he can replace Mirandaon the playoff roster, does it matter? Also.... he's played good enough for a shot, good for him. Hopefully he can add something to the club.
  13. I'd be willing to bet Jorge is back and starting at 2B opening day. Just a feeling.
  14. I think it's a tricky situation. You don't often see a player as inexperienced as Julien who shows the combined eye at the plate and potential power as Julien. The Twins do have the luxury of having multiple young options though. Young pitching us always intriguing, but I think I hang onto him thru the offseason and see what he can do with more ABs.
  15. Cincinatti has also lost 86+ games 6 of the last 10 years and has had 2 winnings season (2 and 3 games over .500) in that time span. Five 94+ loss seasons. That's a lot of losing, a lot of high draft picks and a lot of talent traded for prospects. For all intents and purposes, they SHOULD have a younger team than the Twins. I'm not sure if that is the direct comparison I would make, and the same goes for the O's. You don't need a roster full of young players to succeed either.
  16. I'm not sure trailing by 5 games in the division on September 1st is really making the Cleveland folks chuckle all that much. If they overcome the deficit, sure laugh away.
  17. How many of those players had been helping the angels? The word tanking gets thrown around why too often.
  18. If Cleveland wins the division that means the Twins lost it, period. Everyone is so worried about a team that is 6 games under .500 right now. The Twins take care of business and Cleveland is an afterthought. Adding 2 relievers and a struggling starter doesn't make them a super team. If the Twins play better than .500 ball to finish the season they win the division by 5+ games. Book it.
  19. Much ado about nothing. Twins could do no more than put in claims. Saying they struck out is a bit clickbaity when they never had a chance. Here's hoping that Cleveland just threw a couple million away.
  20. Thielbar is absolutely filthy against lefties. You are up 2-0 with a runner on 3rd with 2 outs in the 8th, he is who you go to. Thielbar gets the out and you get your ace Duran to face the heart of the Guardians order in the 9th. Saving Thielbar means you are anticipating losing the lead and using him in extras. You just can't do that when you have the matchup you want. Calhoun has reverse splits for this season, which is a tiny SSS at 26 PA. For his career, he has .748 OPS vs RHP and a .701 vs LHP. IMO, I think they should have walked him to load the bases after he fell behind 3-0 and Ramirez had already swiped 2nd base.
  21. Good point with tax threshold, but my point stands in other situations. I would almost argue that teams that are playing prospects and AAA types who need to play well to get another shot give just as good of a game as one with vets who are mailing it in at the end of the season. I have zero stats or numbers to back this up though. No player that was waived was a controllable asset though, so that doesn't really change anything, unless I missed one somewhere.
  22. Lefties are hitting .121 against Thielbar and strike out 31% if the time, while he's carrying a 0.40 WHIP against them. It is extremely true about the statement, and he's the pitcher you want in there against Kwan. Gallo and Luplow are both terrible. I don't really see the uproar, he probably tweaked something, really unusual spot to pull Gallo otherwise.
  23. Meh, that's just using the manager as a scapegoat. I have no problem placing blame on Duran for sucking or Correa for leaving a village on the basepaths. The young core of Julien, Lewis, Wallner and Jeffers went 0/14 with 10 K's. It's okay to say whelp they had a bad game, rather than going to straight to blame the manager.
  24. Of course they happen, in just baffled at how many fans won't hold players accountable. They are professional ball players. If Pagan gives up the HR to Calhoun, the same posters are complaining about Rocco trusting Pagan in that situation. If players do their job, the Twins win this ball game. The managers job is to put them in position to win, and he did that. It's inexcusable for MAT to allow an extra base in the 8th. It's inexcusable for Duran to throw a pitch behind a batter with 2 outs in the 9th. I don't always believe in Rocco's decisions, but the amount of blame he gets around here sometimes is truly baffling.
  25. A lot of you piling on the manager. MAT turned a single into a double at a pretty crucial moment Thielbar is usually death to lefties, Kwan beat him. Duran is who you want to finish games, he blew it. The offense had 4 hits all game.
