  1. Just a thought, but how bout a trade packaging some combination of Miranda, Polanco, Kepler, Gallo for RH corner OF and LH relief pitcher. If Gallo can't be included somehow, DFA him. Make room for Walner and Larnach in the corners. Play Farmer/Solano at third until Lewis comes back. IF of Kirilloff Julien CC and Lewis. OF of Larnach Buxton and Walner. Keep Taylor for insurance with Castro as backup for both IF and OF. With the return of a RH corner outfielder we can platoon RF and LF and DH. I think Larnach and Walner need an extended tryout to see if the fit for '24 or they can be traded in the offseason. We should still win the division and it would be a good test for the future. With Lee expected to be up next year and others for depth this seems solid to me.
  2. ss- Correa 2b- Polanco dh- Julien 1b- Kiriloff 3b- Lewis rf- Larnach cf- Buxton lf- Walner c- Jeffers bench - Vasquez, Farmer, Castro, trade Kepler + Solano for a rh corner outfielder, dfa Gallo SP - Gray, Lopez, Ryan, Ober, Maeda RP - Duran, Jax, Thielbar, Stewart, Pagan, Balazovic, Floro, Keuchle(sp) Possibly trade Miranda + Pagan + lower level pitcher for another Rp with multi-years Possibly trade Maeda or Gray for multi year Rp + good prospect and move Keuchle to Sp Still have Varland and Winder for spot start or Rp in case of injuries. And THEN: after we win the WS with this plan, hire me as the GM and expect great things in the future. See you at the ballpark, Over and Out.
  3. So, what would it take to get him? Would they like a Wallner/Larnach? with Maeda? Bring up Kuekle(sp)/Winder/Varland? What are looking to give up?
  4. Good win for the Twins today, but I still think there is a lack of hustle and Vasquez could have extended the 10th if he would have onlly slid into second base. Not real impressed with some of the lackluster play. That said, they did some good things today and came out with a win. Need the big boys to get going. Happy with the win.
  5. Not possible to "earn" his bucks on a baseball field. Just saying.
  6. Just my opinion, but let's start with the basics. We have a very talented team with Buxton, Correa, Kirilloff, Larnach, Lewis, Polanco, and others in peripheral roles that are all performing well below their talent level. I'm not seeing alot of hustle. Situational hitting has been horrible. It looks to me that we need a phisophy change on offense. Buxton at DH is not working. Yes, he has been in the lineup more, but to what end? He slides into second and gets up slow, runs into second baseman, gets drilled in the ribs by a pitch, and strikes out at an extremely high rate. I say put him in center and take what you get. If he gets injured, well he gets injured. And he wants to play defense. Correa is not playing to his capabilities. Why? Team strikeouts are just disgusting. Do we need to make changes in the coaching staff? I don't think that's the answer. I just think we need to change the way we are approaching our at bats. Yes, that is going to have to come from the manager and coaching staff, but we are not making adjustments to the poor perfomance to date. Will we realize this as a team? It's not too late. We are still in first place, but that is not going to last if we don't make some changes. I will continue to watch the games and root for my team because I am a die hard, but everything has its limits. I am fast becoming disgusted. You can't win games without scoring runs.
  7. I hate to say "I told you so" but, I was behind the Gallo signing from day 1. New York and LA would probably be the the absolute worst places for him to play, He seems to have a great comfort level in Mn. and the potential he brings with the power and on base% outweighs the K's. Just hope it continues for the rest of the season.
  8. And speaking of Gallo, Is anybody eating crow yet? LOL!!!!
  9. I seems to me that a lot of players get complacent. I'd like to see a little more fire and effort, epecially from the so-called stars.
  10. Looking at our projected linup to begin the season, it is very disturbing. Kirilloff, Polanco, Kepler, Gallo, Corrrea, and now Farmer and Buxton possibly out after 12 games? Talk about bad luck with the injury bug! At this rate we will have a minor league team on the field by June 1st. Makes the front office look pretty good for signing all the depth pieces in the off season. Let's hope that all of these players recover quickly and start hitting. We may have a problem with the 40 man soon if this keeps up just a little. If someone needs to be added, they may have to waive someone when players come back. I thought they would maybe add Bechtold or Elliot Soto for this reason. Also, I agree with the poster about Gordons spot in the lineup. He needs to be in the 7 or 8 spot probably behind whoever is catching. I wasn't a big fan of Taylor, but he also has been a pretty good add and has had a few good at bats in key situations. Hoping to get healthy soon. See you at the ballpark.
  11. Hmmm. Sounds just plain stupid to me. No offense intended to the OP, but as an idea in an MLB forum. Don't give them any more dumb ideas. They might just take you up on them.
  12. Those of you citing the rule book, please stop. It seems the rule book is written in chalk.
  13. Pow, serving up some more crow today, in Miami.
  14. That's what I'm talking about. LOL.
  15. Had to read the article twice to try to find something I disagree with. Still can't. Would agree with all and probably emphasize on Pagan. Seems he has good stuff, but results are the key. Put it together or take your pink slip to Detroit.
  16. Crow!!! Crow Joey!!!! Make'm eat Crow. LOL.
  17. I am really starting to hate technology. Yes, I am a traditionalist. I love baseball. I hate all the changes. Umpires are part of the game. They make mistakes just like all living human beings. But that is part of the game. If umpires don't have the integrity to call the same game for rookies as they do for superstars, then they need to go. If they can't call a good game consistantly then they need to go. But the game is played and umpired by human beings, or at least it always has been. That's the game I fell in love with. Please get rid of the ghost runner. It's not baseball. Please get rid of the pitch/batter clock. Real baseball does not have a clock. Electronic strike zone? Please no thank you. Batters/managers vehimently arguing with umpires and getting thrown out, maybe just to inspire his team. That's part of the game of baseball. If things keep changing the way they are, we all might as well just get them little handheld boxes to play the game on. That's technology. But as much as I hate the changes, I will always love the game. So, see you at the ballpark.
  18. If this ML squad can maintain good health, (that is my hope). I would hope to see Julien and not too many more. As I realize that is not to be expected, I believe we will see Julien, Lewis when healthy, Wallner, and hopefully Lee for a cup of coffee. Pitchers? Really hard to say.
  19. Very interesting. But, like artificially flavored instant mashed potatos. Not on my menu. I'll let them all play 162 games, root for my Twins, and enjoy the season. I like that they play the games to see who wins. See you at the ballpark.
  20. I think the Twins are set up to win 88+ games this year and win the Central. If that happens Rocco will be safe. If that doesn't happen or at least get close, then Rocco will be on the hot seat in '24. But if the reason for a bad season is massive injuries like last year (which in my belief is the reason we didn't win the division last year) then he will be given another year. But hey, in baseball, every manager is on the hot seat if they have multiple losing seasons. A manager can only do so much with the players he is given. I think he should be given a pass for last year, considering the decent season until the late season AAA squad he had to deal with.
  21. I have a hard time criticizing Falvine. I like the team they have built using a mid-range budget. Developing players whether through draft or trade, like Kirilloff, Larnach, Miranda, Jeffers, Julian, Lewis, Lee, Martin, Duran, Ryan, Winder, Jax, Ober, SWR and more. And signing Correa, Donaldson(a signing that I really liked at the time) and trading for Gray, Mahle, Lopez, Lopez, Maeda, Urshela. I think it would be very hard to build a ML team while working with a budget that does not normally allow for 8 to 10 year contracts worth several hundred million dollars. And in my opinion, getting top end SP in free agency is extremely difficult and very risky considering there are 29 other teams that they have to compete with, many with much more money to spend. I believe our future looks bright with a quite a few promising pitching prospects and several big bats nearing the bigs. So, I guess I'd have to say they've done a pretty outstanding job. That's my two cents worth. Don't ask for more. My budget is even smaller than theirs. See you at the ballpark.
  22. My question is who goes down when Polanco and Kirilloff are both healthy. Not Farmer. One might be Castro, but then who? Gordon has no options. Not the second catcher. Probably not Solano because of his contract. So, that leaves most likely Larnach because I believe he still has an option, but he is my player for a breakout season and if that happens, I hope he doesn't take the hit as a numbers game move. So, what I'm getting at is that I love the Farmer addition because of his flexibility and capability as a full time starter and dislike the Solano signing due to it may keep better players off the 26 man roster. I still think that a trade of Kepler or better yet Solano in the coming 3 to 4 weeks would be the ideal situation but I don't think Solano can be traded this early. I guess not a bad problem to have, just hope Larnach is not the loser in this numbers game. But, who knows, maybe other injuries will end up making this a moot point. I think I'm rambling!!!!! Go Twins and see you at the ballpark.
  23. I am a big fan of a Larnach breakout this year. I will predict him as the third or maybe second outfileder. I'm hoping he starts out strong to boost his confidence and stays away from the injury bug. This kid has a sweet swing and has monstrous power when he barrels it up. Gut feeling, he will be the guy that propels this team. Hoping for similar results from Kirilloff.
  24. I think that managing a 13 man pitching staff is tough when the starters only go 5 innings and sometimes less. I would like to see our starters average 6 innings and sometimes go longer. Then managing a long reliever on an occasional short start along with the one inning guys would be much easier. We could start by DFAing Pagan and fill his spot with the long guy, Maybe Dobnak, or Winder would be my picks. Just can't see why they keep holding out hope for Pagan. Maybe I'm wrong, I even hope so but I just get a sick feeling every time he comes in the game. Emelio, make me eat my words. In any case I think it needs to begin with longer starts. And I think we have the staff to make that happen. 6+ would be my goal.
