  1. Diaw and Mendez should be highly sought after and I would not have a problem trading them due to positional strength. Quick and Houston should also be highly sought after, but I would hate to see them traded also due to positional lack of strength. I'd love for EmRod to be less injury prone and be a long term Twins outfielder, but would not have a problem trading him for the right package. The Twins have a lot of very tradeable pieces in the minors because of depth but as others have said, they aren't getting their chances, at least not yet. Also agree that Roden is not the guy for Twins and Gray should be in AAA as an emergency SS and he's had some moments in the big leagues, but I don't think anybody is knocking on the door as a trade piece. I want to see Jenkins and Culpepper called up and Roden and Gray sent down.
  2. I don't know why, but I get a feeling that Royce is going to be traded. What an up and down career he has had. For years he was going to be our next superstar. But the injuries he's had to overcome, plus the streaky good and then streaky bad stretches are very uncomfortable. I still very much like Royce and hope he is a Twin and becomes a more reliably good player, but I just see a change of scenery for both him and the Twins is about to happen. Gut feeling.
  3. OHHHHH. My mistake. I thought they intentionally walked the bases loaded. Well, that changes everything.
  4. I disagree. Playing out of position had nothing to do with it. All 5 infielders and the pitcher should have known before the pitch was even thrown, that the only runner that matters was on third base. Get the force at home first and foremost. If you can still get the double play great. If the game is on the line, end that threat and go on from there.
  5. I like this move. Traded two guys that probalbly don't make it to the big league club and possibly not to MLB at all. Now a trade for Emerson Hancock and I'd be really happy. I still think that they could trade Jeffers and be satisfied with Caratini and Jackson, but another reliever in the same vein as Minter would be solid also. Time to see Culpepper and Jenkins called up. Kudos to Clemens who may be the Twins MVP for the year.
  6. Disagree. Need to look at his overall numbers.
  7. Attributed to ha bad American league. Lucky to not be 15 games below .500.
  8. I think the Twins trade deadline thoughts should be on 9 new hitters.
  9. Wow. You seem to take yourself pretty serious. That whole response was supposed to be semi-deadpan humor. For me anyway.
  10. And when the deadline has come and gone, I predict that Jeffers will either be a Dodger or a Yankee.
  11. There is another aspect to trading Jeffers that hasn't been talked about. Albeit probably quite minor and only something that would affect the Pohlads. And that would be that by keeping Jeffers in a possible playoff run, if he were to make the difference in making or not making the playoffs, there is a lot of money to be made, "again, by the Pohlads", in having home playoff games. I'm not sure how much difference that would make to even the owners or the differntial in their profits, but I thought I'd throw it out there for laughs.
  12. I respect your opinion, but I do not respect that you are telling anyone how to be a fan. Opinions are like, well you know. The way I see it, the Twins are one of the teams that do not spend big bucks for top talent so we have to rely on the draft and good trades for low cost talent. So if trading away an expiring contract makes your team better in a year where the chance of competing makes the team better for multiple years, I don't see that as bad management. If someone thinks that is better for the team, it doesn't make that person a bad fan. If the Twins trade Jeffers and or Ryan, I will continue to root for my team. If they stand pat, I will continue to root for my team. But hoping for the trade deadline to go one way or the other does not make anyone a bad fan. Thats my, well you know, opinion.
  13. So, what you should do, "IN MY OPINION", is to use your vast knowledge of the FACTS, to build a portfolio large enough to buy the Twins, appoint yourself as the GM and President of baseball operations, and build a winner. Because it's obvious that you have all the facts and the expertise. My point is, that none of us really knows what the business requires to happen, and I doubt that any of us knows as much as the scouting dept. and front office knows about the players and which ones can actually be had for the price we are willing to pay. This started as a response to all the negativity about Zoll, and I'm just saying that maybe we should give him a chance to build a team before we beat him with a bat.
  14. Sorry, you're right. Just seeing so many experts writing what looks like 100% fact and it's just not. We fans think we know more than those paid to spend the majority of their time figuring this stuff out. So, my opinion is the only correct way to go. Or at least that is how many of these comments come across.
  15. Oh my! Forgive me and him. He had two and a half months to build a team and with no money. What the hell was he doing?
  16. Not sure why people seem to be so down on Jeremy Zoll. What has he done to deserve such negativity? I put last year directly on Falvey and Baldelli. I favor giving Mr. Zoll a chance to do his job, which at this point, with the restricted payroll he started with, he has not yet had that chance. I have to say, I already like him better than Falvey.
  17. I think that 2027 is being overly optimistic but a fan can hope he's blowing away the minors such as to force the situation. Realistic optimism is for 2028 with Caratini being retained for 2027. Jackson can be a reasonable backup. If he's not ready by 2029 he may be considered a bust as compared to hype and draft position. None of these options are out of the realm of possibility. Prospects are "only" prospects until they aren't, one way or another. Good luck young man, and hope to see you sooner rather than later. Hopes are high.
  18. I would add Kreidler to the positives. He has played well at the SS position and his bat has been better than expected. Also Larnach has been better than expected both offensively and defensively. My biggest disappointement has been Royce. I like him at 1st base and although he's been a little better after the demotion, his BA has been abysmal at under .220 and the way he chases the outside pitch is very annoying. Zebby has been a pleasant surprise and I expect him to keep getting better.
  19. This is good and reasonable coversation. Personally, I love Jeffers and can understand both sides of trading or not, but QO is a big definate "NO". I honestly think that he should be traded if the offer is reasonable. That would take a top 50 prospect. If he doesn't draw that, then they don't want him bad enough. Don't give him away, even though you would be giving him away during the offseason. Even top 50 prospects can wash out. The real thing is, He is our property at this time. If someone wants to buy him for a reasonable price, it only makes sense to sell him. The team has done quite well while he has been out. I doubt that he would have provided any more wins had he not gotten injured. My gut says to make the trade.
