  1. I use a Hornsby quote in my email signature block when the snow first flies: "People ask me what I do in winter when there's no baseball. I'll tell you what I do. I stare out the window and wait for spring. " Rogers Hornsby.
  2. If only Molitor hadn't been fired in 2018 (winks)... He is hitting 247 vs left this year. Slow, but effective learner.
  3. Molitor on radio, in an implicit comment re: Baldelli: "When I had him (Kepler) as a young player, batted him against left-handers to learn -- as we knew he was going to be an everyday player for us."
  4. Atteberry will be in the booth for Bally;s...
  5. For those who keep 1/2 eye on Tigers, ahead of WSox 3-2 top of 7th. Dickerson had a good interview w/Hinch before game. He is keen on going w/youth (and Cabrera) for the rest of the year. Remember when catchers inherently moved to field manager? Game has changed.
  6. Molitor on the radio for color. Would give a large amount to sit next to him in upper box at Cleve series. Oh, so much to learn.
  7. I wish Provus' contract required he be away in Nov/Dec, not now.
  8. Great races still to determine league playoff positions to be determined. We have wonderful post-season ball coming up this year. https://www.mlb.com/standings
  9. Would love a game today that captured me as much as last night's game did. Oh, dear.
  10. If the purpose of hitting better hitters earlier in the lineup is to get men on on base, why in the world would you hit the leagues leading GIDP player 3-5? Is the marketing dept or baseball people in charge of lineup? Good grief.
  11. =>Jax, long relief, inn gobbler. -> Headrick for the 8th.
  12. Maybe he was thinking old roster of 40.
  13. Could always run Pagan out there for another inning. <Wide grin>.
  14. How would you like to be playing 1B, using that old worn out mitt you have in the garage, and have one of Correa's 96mph coming at you.
  15. I am a Keuchel fan. Love the backstory. May he last 6. 3 Ks, 4 BBs. 1 ER. (Have Cleve on radio, leading Tampa 2-1, top 3rd).
  16. Spent the morning at the Univ of Minnesota Agri fields. Bud is a horticulturist out there, working on industrial hemp and sorghum (we squeeze it every fall for syrup). Come along. We also spent time with a plant geneticist who is working on crossing sweet corn until he gets 50/50, burgundy kernels/yellow kernels. Click on pics for narrative. 17. Have the A's/Angels on MLB.com TV. Rooker hit a two-run bomb, pushing his OPS to .800. Also love the circus like atmosphere of Oak-Alameda stadium and the "open" bullpen, where the BP is right on the playing surface. Escobar is pinch hitting for the Angels. Hitting .231. Trevor May closed against Angels. Stats here: https://www.mlb.com/player/trevor-may-543507
  18. I haven't been upset. I haven't been frustrated with him. I have been frustrated that such a phenomenal athlete is unable to compete to his fullest because of a seemingly weaker muscle/skeletal condition.. If I have to describe the feeling, I guess it would be sad. Sad for Buxton and the situation which it presents. I was frustrated with the Twins for tying up the DH role for so long when it was clear that Buxton was struggling but was unable to compete. Stop. It doesn't do the athlete (Buxton) or the team any good. Absolutely. I can not begin to imagine what he feels like.
  19. Amtrak is invariably late, coming thru the Dakota oil fields. BNSF owns the line which Amtrak runs on and the oil runs take priority. I have ridden Amtrak plenty of times and love rail travel. I just don't set my watch to Amtrak time like I could do on trains in Europe/Scandinavia. Don't park downtown. $16-20. Plenty of parking along Greenline (yes, it runs at all hours). Raymond stop, Lexington (my parking area), midway between Target Field and Union Station (last stop on Greenline). Park on side street north of University (~1100 block of Charles). 1/2 hour to Target; 20 min to Union Station. Give a yell here or message me if you have more questions. Ticket is good for 2 hours if you have to scoot out of game early.
  20. Danchat is referring to Buxton. From Strib's Miller: "Byron Buxton experienced soreness in the patella tendon of his right knee on Friday, and was removed from Saints' game after two at-bats as DH, a Twins spokesman says. Team will evaluate and update his condition on Saturday." Ouch.
  21. Verlander got rocked for 6 ERs in 6 inn by Yanks, Friday eve

      This is a good thing.

      Except for the Yanks part.
