  1. Pretty bleak AAA Omaha attendance based on clips from behind home and right field/1st base.
  2. KC playing this card but the move will be to North Kansas City.
  3. Aren't the WSox satire personified?
  4. Something is amiss. Arraez is hitting .235 for the month of August.
  5. If you ain't been to Kopps, you ain't been to Milwaukee. Best custard I have ever had (it's not soft ice cream -- it's custard). Great sloppy burgers and I loved them. Leon's custard rates right up there with Kopps. https://chicagofoodiesisters.blogspot.com/2016/11/kopps-in-milwaukee-wisconsin.html
  6. Chefs and cooks. The Spice House at the Public Market. Need sausages to grill when you tailgate? Only one place for me. Usinger's downtown. https://www.usinger.com/visit-usingers Italian deli? I sadly miss their meatball sandwiches and Italian sausages lathered with sauce. 1011 E Brady, close to downtown. https://gloriosos.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/12/gloriososdelimenu.pdf
  7. A game at Cedar Rapids is Americana at its best.
  8. Cheese. Hit the cheese vendor at the Market or this shop, West Allis Cheese and Sausage shop. Look for a 17 yr cheddar. You will reach heaven. Coffee. Hit Stonecreek shop near the train station. Fantastic shop and coffee in an old warehouse where Stoncreek does their roasting.
  9. I was torn between attending town ball or seeing Kuechel throw -- I had seen him pitch at St Paul and wanted to see him in MLB. Town ball was our choice. I think he can serve as a mentor to the younger staff. He is a class act and has been to the dance. If he falters as a starter, room for him in the pen to eat innings.
  10. One win and a series win needn't be the only small sample on which to render an opinion of a manager's ability to assess, know, and lead a ball club. Baldelli? A man with an over-reliance on statistical analysis. Please don't categorize fans as an "either/or." It's a faulty syllogism. Just one fan who believes he is not getting the most from his ballplayers or club. Can he take this assembled group to the next level in their potential or success? No. Our assessments differ, that's all. We view through different lenses.
  11. He's like a kid with his first iPad, not a manager who knows his players nor a man who leads with some intuition.
  12. Ober is out of gas. He is at 130 inn pitched with 39 games to go. Most he has ever pitched in the pros is 108 prior to this year. Playoffs? Momentum. Key to deep playoff run. I am most interested in last 8-10 games of the season, as Cleve seems to be on the ropes. Regardless, not sure how deeply Twins will go. Some records to date: Record against >.500 Twins 27-31 Atlanta 41-25 Baltimore 40-30 Likely 1st Round Opponent (Twins have advantage, all 3 games at home. Dreadful 1-game playoff format is gone). Twins at home: 35-25 On the road: Houston, 37-26 Seattle, 33-27 Toronto, 35-29 Rays, 34-28 At home Rangers 42-22 Braves 41-20 Rays 40-22 Dodgers 41-21 Where they stand a chance? Brewers >.500, 33-36 Phils >.500, 37-36 Gosh, would love to see Twins advance to WS w/Phils and crush them and their awful fans.
  13. I bet the plantar fasciitis has him down in the ol' heels.
  14. The root cause might well be the Tigers club wishes to be a spoiler. Knowing their fortune, it is good to kick the mediocre King of Division in the shins when you have a chance. Had the game on Detroit radio. Dan Dickerson suggested that Hinch wanted Faedo to gain a win, go to the bench with some confidence, moving his record to 2-5 after 9 starts this year. By the way, he is allowing a .202 hitting against opponents and commands a .99 wHip.
  15. Let's see. A ballplayer has 10 weeks of horrid ball followed by 8 wks of good ball and an apology is in order. Nah.
  16. Not a Bulged (Zulgad auto-corrected) listener, but something is amiss. I saw a couple of times at Target Field this year when Kepler jogged to pick up a ball (one took a bad ricochet and one was down the line). "Sprint" didn't seem to be in his tool box.
  17. Hey, North Tonawanda here! We were Buffalo Bison and Cleveland fans (1270 AM out of Niagara Falls). Why Twins? Geography. Kids were both in the Cities when we retired 10 yrs ago and I got out voted on Denver. Where my feet are becomes my loyalty. Go Twins.
  18. The Cat with 5 lives: Have Rangers-A's game on. Who is hitting DH for Rangers? Robbie Grossman. Stands a chance of getting his ring.
  19. Watched a freebee on MLB-TV. Gibby wasn't messing around like he used to. He seemed more confident on the mound.
  20. Now, that one I will take to the bank. Bet there is no rider. No insurance company would touch that policy to ensure his salary of $100MM with his history of injuries.
  21. Have the Reds-Marlins game on. Arraez playing second, (.369), and Steer and Encarnacion-Strand just hit back to back HRs. Reds booth was talking about Steer for rook of the yr. Lopez on in the 7th in relief.
  22. Thanks from a radio listener. We get only hints of his defensive shortages from the booth but it's much clearer here on the boards.
  23. I have read that in the past. The Twins have no responsibility to level with those of us who are curious. It is their business. I, however, remain a bit skeptical when 6-8 wks is normal recovery from patellar tendinitis. He had 7 months off from time of surgery to ST. Absolutely. His skeletal/muscular system is unique unto himself. The Natl Institute of health suggests that young athletes do indeed have meniscus issues: "Isolated meniscus tears are relatively common in young athletes and cause significant loss of time from athletic pursuits with meniscus repair causing greater loss than debridement. Lateral meniscus tears are more prevalent in this population." https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4901664/ Do I know? Of course not. Do I believe something larger than pat. tend. is at play. Yes. We will know in time. Till then, we all speculate.
  24. I admit, I only play one on TV. <wink/> I am sure he has. There is $100MM riding on it.
  25. Well researched and written Cody. Absolutely. Appreciation and more playing time. Were I a prospect/rookie, I would take inspiration from rubbing elbows with a vet carrying a 92 wRC+. Farmer. Before getting hit w/a FB to the mouth, Farmer was hitting .223. He required stitches for the laceration, 4 root canals, wiring in his mouth, and lays out a month. Since that injury, Farmer has raised his BA to .247 and is fielding .985 as a super utility played at 3B, SS, LF, 1B, and 2B. Hats off.
