  1. Ron Darling? I have enjoyed him. I was hoping he was on radio.
  2. Olson throwing a no hitter for Tigers against WSox, 7.1 inn.
  3. Open for your vote. Party affiliation not required (winks). Some superb folks listed. Four stood out for me, Gibby (has always been a giver back to community) and Hendricks, as well as Peña and Kemp. All are giving of time as well as money. Who wins is less important than the reminder to all of us to give back to community. Thanks gents and caps off to them. https://www.mlb.com/community/roberto-clemente-award#vote
  4. If only he would braid the locs, he could sign a contract as Johnny Depp's sidekick in the 7th episode of "Pirates of the Caribbean." The camera would pan on Kody in high leverage situations. Call him Captain Kody Klutch. Have a broom hanging where a sword would be. Depp could play lines off the broom's presence. Capt Kody's stock answer would be, "I don't need a cutter; it's a sweeper." If Depp gets canned, there would be a change up in the cast. Kody could relieve him.
  5. As I understand it, at AAA game I attended. The ump called Bs/Ss. Catch has x number of appeals and that is when the Jumbotron showed the computer's rendition and call. Is it different at lower levels?
  6. Surely could be. But what also must be considered. is innings pitched and the diminishing velo as game wears on. As well, starting rotations used to consist of 4 starters. More chance to see them starters and figure it out. I too would love more data to support the discussion both ways. (Total inns/avg by starters over the year)
  7. Who knows. I cut Wallner and Julien some slack as rooks w/higher K rates. They are with the big boys now. How they fare next year and year after when they approach 1000ABs will be telling.
  8. It's a good historical marker. I doubt that Killebrew ever got fed a diet of 97mph FBs from starters or 102mph relievers from an ever fresh BP. "Third time thru the lineup" wasn't in the baseball lexicon in his era.
  9. Odd move indeed. He has been down 12 days and hasn't thrown the first pitch.
  10. Twins rarely show their cards on injuries, but I find them even tighter on Miranda's injury.
  11. I will run down the street and check.
  12. Scherzer getting shelled by Houston w/HRs. 7-1 in top of 3rd. He pitches on.

  13. Agreed. When was the last time MLB eased out an ump?
  14. Have Cleve radio booth on. Tom Hamilton and his side kick have excellent working knowledge of the Twins. More than superficial cliches or stats. Good background insights. Someone has done their homework.
  15. After 10 min of non-stop commercials on both Cleve and Twins booths, I threw on Brewers game.
  16. My garden In St Paul could have used it. Zip.
  17. More importantly, what is their record against teams with records >.500. 36-38. They have improved that number compared to what it was at the All-Star break.
  18. No, not realignment. If and when MLB expands by two teams, realignment might occur. I mean the discussions behind the back door, curtains closed when owners speak their minds about what is holding the sport back, whatever minimizes their ticket sales whenever an AL Central club visits their stadium, about the disparity in fielding a competitive environment. All of these affect their pocketbooks and about that, they are concerned.
  19. Early Minneapolis 17 tractor.
  20. Market size, yes. Ownership, no. San Diego's payroll shows depth of pockets trumps market size (though not W/L success). All AL Central owners are billionaires (getting my head around a billion is hard this morning). https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2021/12/mlb-owners-net-worth.html
  21. Curious. This winter, will the owners privately address the dismal state of AL Central? How might they go about that? For a professional sport to have a perennially, dismally weak division harms the sport and business (attendance when AL Central opponent visits). AL Central is a laughing stock. It's about time to address that but don't know if or how other owners might take action. DIVISION RECORD OUTSIDE DIVISION AL East 231-164 (.585) NL East 217-198 (.523) NL West 209-204 (.506) AL West 201-204 (.496) NL Central 195-207 (.485) AL Central 157-233 (.402) Your thoughts? db
  22. This evening, the two pair off in Houston vs Texas, on free MLB.TV. Will be good duel. Hamilton vs Burr. https://www.mlb.com/news/astros-face-rangers-in-free-game-of-the-day db
