  1. Berrios just struck out the side against the stinkin' Yanks. Go Jose. Beat Cole.
  2. We brought back 3 pieces of art (tapestry -- a mola and paintings) from the Kuna people in Panama and a young Afro Carib Costa Rican artist. I had two of them framed in burl and one in padauk. Won't tell you what I paid to frame them. Wife doesn't even know. But they have been in our living room for 20 years and they always evoke comment. Would do it again.
  3. One large frame, wood of course. You can just use tulip or red pine for fathead. There are shops (on line is none in your area). Mount fathead on wood. Then, for the cards, have a large frame crafted from same wood. Cards arranged chronologically, with theme card in middle: 9 9 1 9 10 Have a mat cut out for them, which the cards are recessed into, with a double mat for the frame (navy blue, or whatever Twins color you want to use.) Visit a couple of wood shops; give them your ideas. Doing it once. It will be on the wall a long time and can get passed down. https://www.irontimbers.com/tables You're in Mennonite/Amish country. Visit the largest church and ask for a woodworker. They will know one within their group.
  4. I wouldn't paint or do strips. I would go with burl wood frame around fathead (spend the dime, easy for me to say) or burl wood veneer. Do it in the tulip tree burl (Indiana state tree) or red pine burl (MN state tree). Not a square frame but a border which follows fathead outline. https://www.veneersupplies.com/categories/Raw__Wood__Veneer/Wood__Veneer__N__-__Z/Oak__Burl__Wood__Veneer Fast forward to 3:50
  5. I would be disappointed if TOR doesn't make it just because I listen to many of their games (from Niagara Falls area originally), have familiarity with players, enjoy radio announcer Ben Wagner and TV Dan Shulman. Attendance-wise suggests a tossup. Houston and Toronto avg 36,000. Seattle and TX about 32,000. City of Arlington, big-time. They put up $500MM for the stadium. 1/2cent sales tax and 2% hotel tax (5% car rental tax). MLB. Toss-up. Right coast/left coast draws highest ratings for more casual fans. Baltimore vs Atlanta (my expectation) won't pull in the casuals.
  6. 30% of MLB players are Latino. Mex City would have no problem signing players. Would be a magnet for them culturally, though challenging for some US ballplayers.
  7. Application has been made to Commissioner's office. Working from memory but I think Commissioner said once the Tampa Bay Rays stadium plans were complete, this would be a go.
  8. Playing off Western theme, "paddocks?"
  9. Now that Tampa has solid plan for an indoor stadium in St Pete (groans) and by all measures, Oak goes to Las Vegas. Two questions. Where do the two expansion teams go? My guess will be: 1. Nashville, 5th fastest growing metro area in US in last 5 yrs 2. Mexico City IF they can get their act together for a new stadium or Montreal, same stadium issue. Estadio Alfredo Harp in M.C. built in 2019, 18,000 capacity. Olympic Stadium (brrrrr...) holds 47,000? Where does the Las Vegas AAA team go? Tucson. Hi Corbett Field. Cap. 9.500 but old, buddy, old. Summer heat is brutal but no worse than Las Vegas. Tucson would support the team.
  10. HRs: Twins, 223 Cleve, 121 No way Francona can outmanage that.
  11. Looking for an oatmeal bread recipe... Will go with a molasses or sorghum cane syrup instead of sugar. We will be squeezing and boiling down more sorghum sugar in October. https://www.kingarthurbaking.com/recipes/back-of-the-bag-oatmeal-bread-recipe
  12. Tigers will end up in 2nd place by end of year.
  13. He said that he felt the bill impeded his vision of the pitcher.
  14. Actually contrasting with the Dome.
  15. Audacy needs to quit using interns to queue up commercials. Numerous times, on a variety of team broadcasts, 2 outs and here comes the commercial. Just happened on A's cast.
  16. Those of you who have MLB radio, try some of the A's broadcast. Ken Korach is one of my faves. Not sure who is doing color tonight. I don't recognize his voice. Right now they are singing the praises of Target Field.
  17. What an odd stat for the Astros: At home: 39-42 On the road: 47-29
  18. I don't get it. Box score has his name list. Been cooking and might have missed something.
  19. Just for the day. Still have a week left. I keep an eye on it via MLB wildcard page. Easier on this addled mind given the complexity: https://www.mlb.com/standings/wild-card/2023-09-24
  20. Did I hear that Paddack is in the BP?
  21. KLAA, Terry Smith, radio play by play. Longest serving continuous radio announcer for Angels. Horrible. Monotone, stacato delivery. Mark Langston, former MLB pitcher does color. Well done but clearly 2nd fiddle to Smith. Have to bear my way thru with Gladd... .
  22. Saints ahead, 3-2, top 8. Buxton, 3-0, 1K Gallo, 3-0, 1K Whoops, just saw Stringer's
