    The owners approved the move, 30-0. What a mess. Lease expires at end of '24. New ballpark won't be ready until '28. New park will have a "partially retractable roof" (don't ask me what that is). AAA stadium holds 8,000. It they move in there, revenues will equal the 'tank team' it put on the field this year. Where will the AAA franchise end up (Pacific Coast League). Fischer has said that the A's will become the LV Athletics. Ever been to Vegas in the summer? Gorgeous weather for a desert Gila monster. Smallest media market of all existing MLB clubs; revenue and coverage will be marginal. Population similar to Milwaukee but then there are the tourists. Really, "Oh, let's go to Vegas to see a crap team play on a Tuesday night when the temps dip from 102 to 82 to 72." Not sure what Fisher was thinking.     Understood. It is just that I see such high praise and unchecked enthusiasm for Lee here on TD that I worry the expectations are up on the living room ceiling.

    Couldn't agree more. But my guess is that David St Peter will be in charge of these decisions and he will elect for "yesterday's model" since it will be his safe legacy (groans). That kind of model fits him to a T.

    Make no mistake, I love Atteberry on the updates and I am unsure of how he does it so quickly and accurately. But as main guy, he just talks it to death without any sense of pause or appropriate drama in his calling.

    Well thought out and written. In additional to Marney, Jessica Mendoza, and Jesse Garcia (Milwaukee, news director at smallest TV network; former sportscaster). Don't put 3 in a booth. Never works for me. Consider Chris Archer in some capacity. Ploufe is good for stories but processes too much info audibly rather than forming thoughts and then speaking.

    Lee? Everyone touts him but a look at defensive stats show .954 at short and .947 at 3rd (3rd is a small set) for his minor league stats to date. Julien compiled a .981 at AAA and .991 at 2nd with the club. And folks are unsettled with Julien's defense? Time for a pause.

    I second that. I watched him very carefully at StP. Big guy who doesn't use his legs/thighs at all in his delivery. Contrast that w/a Verlander mechanics. JV has huge thighs developed during his recovery year from TJ surgery. SWR - All arm and upper body. Walked away from game wondering how he/pitching coaches expected SWR to improve. Would love to be proven wrong.

    @Cody Pirkl Low-impact? Game calling and relationships with pitching staff. Ability to synthesize data presented in game planning. Ability to fly extemporaneously from game plan calling based on circumstances and intuitive sense. Blocking the errant sweeper/sliders to preclude runners advancing a base. Throw-out rate. Maybe I misunderstand the sentence. I just understand the role as more than "low-impact position."
