  1. $ Value and love of the game. Saw plenty of ST games when I lived in Florida. Games are overpriced for 2-3 innings of 35% of the starters. Rather watch some competitive games at college level than the understandably relative lackadaisical approach to spring training where teams focus on minor leaguers getting reviewed. I attend about 10 Twins during the year and ardently follow on radio. Just right for me.
  2. Have been in Arizona for last 3 winters and haven't attended one ST game. I admit to being a fan of ball first and foremost, and the Twins secondarily. Give me 18 players and a couple of guys in black/blue and I am happy. Have been to tons of college women's softball, college ball, and HS ball. Price is right, most are competitive. Have grabbed tix to see KC-Cleve in March. Want to see Bobby Witt Jr play.
  3. "He missed the 2023 season with a cartilage issue in his left knee and an injured tibia but is healthy now ..." https://www.mlb.com/news/miguel-sano-trying-to-regain-all-star-form-with-angels
  4. As tired as Seth is of payroll discussion, last year I became so tired of Buxton discussion and I just would skip the thread. I am still there.
  5. Get to see Urshela again. Signed w/Tigers. https://www.mlb.com/news/gio-urshela-tigers-contract
  6. I was in the USAF, detached w/the Army. Joint mission base. When there was a bar fight at our enlisted club, we flyboys went out the back door before the MPs hit the front one; the Squids hid under the tables. The ring? Green Berets and Marine recon boys trying to determine who could end up w/more guys in the brig.
  7. Ah, how true. But then again, none of the professional sports are. Grew up in the 50's. Football? One game on a week, with Lou "The Toe" Groza kicking straight on and Jimmy Brown running like crazy. QBs arms were somewhat secondary to a strong running game. Team paraphernalia? There was none; only banners and cards Basketball the same. Set-shots are gone; run and gun is now in. I hold on to the memories but embrace the game for what it is rather than what I want it to be.
  8. Exactly. I was merely correcting the notion that Provus is "media." Nothing more. I enjoy his work and have seen him move more objectively and critically of the Twins (when deemed appropriate) over the years in his booth with the Twins.
  9. Of course Provus is a member of Twin's staff. He is a paid employee, not a member of the media.
  10. Brilliant, and extend it even further. "If ____________ drives an extra base hit today, tix will be on sale for 1 hour both online and at kiosks. Check your schedules now and be ready to take advantage of ____________'s hitting today."
  11. Gosh, just remembered. With Atteberry as replacement for Provus and Dearest Dan still in the booth, a deep sigh and will listen to the Twins opponent booths this year on MLB audio/radio feed.
  12. One "like" for working in Sisyphus. A must "like."
  13. This tops it all ... Carolyn Goodman, Mayor of Las Vegas, on a sports clip the other eve: "“I personally think they've got to figure out a way to stay in Oakland and make their dream come true.”
  14. It just may. Been there, got the stub.
  15. I like the "D's." Dummies. 1. City of Oakland 2. Fisher 3. City of Las Vegas 4. MLB Owners This could not have been messed up any more if they tried. Metro areas clamoring for ball and they have themselves tied in knots. I have never seen anything like it in pro sports.
  16. I am in Merida MX now but will be in Phoenix/Surprise for Guardians/Royals on Mar 15. Want to see Bobby play.
  17. Really good interview with Bobby Witt, Jr. https://www.mlb.com/video/bobby-witt-jr-discusses-his-extension-with-royals?q=ContentTags = ["rumors","trades","transactions"] Order By Timestamp DESC&pt=Hot Stove&p=0 What a babyface, eh? Stack 'em up. Your predictions for AL Central this year. Mine: Twins Tigers Guardians Royals Guaranteed Rate Bottom Dwellers 'South Side
  18. Spring training, '73. Fresh out of the service after Vietnam, I headed over to park in Lauderdale where Yanks used to Spring train. Playing the Mets, so I was going to see the "Say Hey" kid with whom I grew up. Pumped. Deep fly to right center, Mays turns around, gets on his horse... and falls down. He was 40-41 then. I went home a sad kid. Say Hey, Willie, for all the thrills you provided to so many kids and people for whom you have paved the way!
  19. That hole Levine remarked about in the starting rotation reminds me of an old rusty bucket I have outside. I traded some zucchini to my neighbor for it. By the time I fill it and get to the garden, there isn't much water left in it. I am going to name that bucket "Dez."
  20. Good post Devlin. Like Heiny, I am on the continuum. No hate for Buxton at all. His physical ailments are real on a body which can not handle the rigors of baseball's immediate starts and stops. Toss in a few odd injuries and what do you have? Tremendous athletic talent in a suspect body. I too would be glad to see him on field but I have heard it just one too many times.
  21. I as well. Going to the physical therapist for shoulder tendinitis even now. Too many punches in the past. Skol.
  22. We always played that you had to punch the other guy right on the corner of the shoulder joint where the tendon then, when punched, "sings in agony," and called Pepsi..
  23. Great call from Winter Ball in the DR. Wait for it... https://www.mlb.com/video/miguel-sano-s-three-run-home-run-x0239?cp=MIXED&p=0&q=PlayerId %3D [593934] Order By Timestamp DESC
