  1. Dang. Soooooooooooo close. That Walner ball. Uggg.
  2. 100%, especially when your starter gets hit around some and gives you 4 innings. But right now Jax has been the worst of the bunch. He will come around, but for now is un-useable.
  3. Yes, so don't want him near them, sorry use anyone else he is the worst arm in the pen right now. He can be one of the best, but is scuffling. No close games for now or DL Pagan less than 10 darn pitches breezes right through the inning. This is no brainer, he gets another.
  4. Doesn't matter with the rest but Jax right now is this year's Pagan of old. DL stint or only low leverage for a few weeks.
  5. He's good but struggling. The manager has to notice that and not use him in high leverage spots right now. Blew this game.
  6. Jax is cooked for the time being. Time for a DL stint. Rocco again bangs his head into a wall putting him in high leverage spots right now.
  7. Jax needs to either do that or some low leverage for right now. Pagan has been hot, ride him until he loses it. I was worried when Rocco took Sonny out at 80 pitches and handed it to Jax yesterday, he has been bad his last handful of outings. We got lucky to win that game IMO.
  8. In a vaccum, I guess you are right. But for fans, ticket sales, etc, it is bad business to dump 2-3 of your starting players for prospects when you are leading your division.
  9. Agree, us DFAing Gallo and spare bullpen parts would likely lead to better performance out of our system guys. Not sure why the Twins have always been afraid to do this over the years. They HATE eating dead money on guys not on their roster I think.
  10. I don't like trading starting pitching when we are going to likely win the division by default and I didn't want any young guys moved by the geniuses for win now players. We have seen how well that worked out before. Let it shake out. This season is and always has rested on what Buxton, Correa, and Royce Lewis do. So far it has been...🤢 Question. It he waiver process still in effect like it used to? If so, this is where you pickup your bullpen help or bat from a team that thinks they are in it now but won't be in a few weeks.
  11. Yes, but here is the deal. They dealt hitting for pitching this offseason and now have that pitcher locked up. I think they need to trade now expiring pitching for hitting. They are not getting a guy of Aareaz caliber back right away, but a close-to ML ready RH bat that gets on base and doesn't K for one of Gray or Maeda makes sense to me. Trade one, attempt to sign the other in the offseason and if you can't, then extend the QO and get a draft pick.
  12. Either if they could be traded, or both. Not very likely though that any team wants them, or at least wants to give up another player to get them. If it must be a DFA, it would be Kepler for me. Gallo gets on base and has much more pop. Kepler is a better defender, but mainly an out machine, even though he has been better lately.
  13. He has been a disappointment so far, that is for sure. So has Buxton. That said, he is still a middle of the diamond defensive +, so I still love having him on our team. He will likely have a below average year offensively. Either way, I am glad we have him signed here for now and into the future. I don't expect him to continue to play this bad the rest of his contract.
  14. Seems as if this is said every year about his time LOL. I would agree with you though if they do sell, go ahead and IL him for the season AGAIN.
  15. Sure, they have a type. Players that the rest of the league has figured out aren't worth trading for because of their injury histories. I wish they would quit trying to think they have outsmarted or cornered the market with this type of risky player. Overall, I like the way this FO manages the roster though. It seems as if they are aggressive which I like, and aren't completely afraid to spend money. As for their "philosophy" or whatever you want to call it with the handling of a pitching staff, manager using spreadsheets instead of brain, constructing a lineup full of guys that don't get on base or have high contact rates isn't fun to watch. PS Firing Rocco and hiring a new manager that is keen to analytics but does still use his gut/feel for the game and letting him do his thing without FO interference wins this teams 5-7 more games per year easy. PSS They got hosed for Aarez. Might not even matter how good Lopez ends up being they may have traded Rod Carew in his prime.
  16. I think if the game is 1-0, 2-0 something like that, he might have. I can't stand generally how Rocco manages a pitching staff, but I don't have any problem with him pulling Varland and resting him some/getting guys innings in a blowout.
  17. Do not under any circumstances extend him. It was his shoulder first when we traded for him. Now it is his elbow. If I am the GM, I cut my losses and move on.
  18. Welp. Another one bites the dust. At this point we are going to need LOTS of innings from Varland, Ober, and some from guys yet in AAA. We will see how that holds up. The starting pitching has been fantastic all year long.
  19. I liked the trade at the time. It is too bad that his health has not been better. That said, getting rid of redundant prospects for starting pitching that is more than a half season rental is fine with me every time when we are fighting for a penant.
  20. My guess is he's thrown his last pitch for the Twins. Or maybe we get another 4-5 starts out of him at best.
  21. Un-oh. Doesn't sound good folks. Ober, Varland, Winder, SWR. Come on now, need another one to step up.(Ober is in the process of it)
  22. Don’t be so sure about that. My guess is neither Maeda or Mahle makes more than a handful of starts this year. Most knew it was going to be like this. The good thing is we have some depth. And hopefully at least one of those 2 can give you 100-120 innings
  23. He is the twins best overall hitter IMO. Takes great at bats, can hit from both sides, has enough power, doesn't strike out much and walks a fair amount as well. A season like 2021 from him and healthy and we will go far. Even something in between what he was last year and 2021 and he will be a huge asset to the lineup.
  24. Here is the thing. So far against good teams, they have won series. Last year they seemed overmatched against these teams. And the pitching has surely been the difference this year. Beating Houston in a series and taking the season series from the Yankees is a good start to the year.
