  1. Seattle is a lot like the Twins, IMO. I like their starters, not as much their bullpen…and their lineup has some guys, but they haven’t produced consistently…and K a lot. I suspect that the 3 game difference in the records could be easily different if they played the same schedules.
  2. I still say this is a don’t buy year…unless you can make a splash. The Twins roster is jamb packed with guys that are ‘decent’ or ‘talented, but inconsistent’. Even St Paul has some. Don’t need any more. You’re keeping Gray, you’re keeping Kepler. Lewis and Polanco are coming back. I like the Idea of a right handed corner outfielder for the postseason. But even that isn’t needed to get there. Meanwhile Thielbar and Stewart should be healthy soon. A real difference maker for the bullpen…sure. But only that.
  3. The delay was puzzling…especially in light of what he signed for.
  4. I hate the idea of buying…especially this year…just for the sake of showing everyone “you did something”. Make a splash or don’t do anything.
  5. Gotta think bigger picture… Rick Dempsey for Danny Walton. Graig Nettles (and Dean Chance…who only had one good year left, plus two others), for one year of Luis Tiant, and Stan Williams. And they outright released Jim Kaat and effectively released Luis Tiant. So, they essentially traded them for nothing at a point when they had a collective nearly 250 major-league wins left in them.
  6. I was going to ask where and when the Twins can burn the cream alternate home uniforms. But to each, his own 😉.
  7. How about next game the scoreboard operator hangs a ‘9’ over every inning of the Line Score. Worth a try, I say.
  8. 2 in his last 4 appearances, both against Seattle. And this will be his 6th blown save…as many as he had all last year. Not saying he’s not valuable. He is. I take exception mostly with how predictable his sequencing is…which has to be at least somewhat on the catchers and/or pitching coach.
  9. Was throwing fastballs before the mound visit with good results. Then goes almost exclusively with the unhittable sweeper. Center-cut. Again.
  10. No one willing to underwrite Vasquez and Gallo.
  11. Probably Balazovic’s best inning so far? was in control of each AB.
  12. Yeah…I’m sure this is covered by coaches at the start of each series. But seeing is believing 😀
  13. I think these are just rookie mistakes. I think he’s been a plus baserunner in the minors. He’ll have to make adjustments at this level.
  14. I like the 29 pitches Castillo had to throw last inning almost as much as the 2 runs. Let’s keep it up.
  15. They should definitely be shopping at LEAST one of Larnach, Kepler, Wallner, Gallo. Larnach probably doesn't get you much right now...Gallo may get nothing, but I'm sure the FO will try before DFA'ing him. There may be a team out there that would take on Kepler's remaining option year. And Wallner might be attractive to someone in the off season. I'm torn on Wallner...I see him as a DH and there's no room there...even if Buxton moves to CF, I would assume Julien would be next in line at DH. And as an outfielder, I only see Wallner as a bridge to the next wave of guys coming up that figure to be good hitters, but with a few more other tools than Wallner. I think I'd be willing to shop Wallner. But not feel in a hurry...if anything, wait to see if the bat can drive his trade value further.
  16. It looks like the Twins should be able to get to $8M (or very, very close) without triggering the lost pick. Clark took $7.7M at 3, and Langford $8M at 4. I don't see what the hold up is...unless Jenkins just doesn't like the Twins situation for whatever reason, and wants to go the J.D. Drew route. Or the Twins are agonizing over the tax to go over $7.3M Probably the latter.
  17. Maybe we shouldn't have Jenkins on the list yet? Only first round pick that remains unsigned. Tick, tick, tick...
  18. And what about Mountcastle's road slash line of 217/261/413? Yuck. And he's borderline unplayable this year against right-handed pitching. So...a platoon guy who can only hit lefties and play first base?? We have way more right-handed bats than left now, especially after Lewis comes back...Farmer, Buxton, both catchers, MAT, Solano, Correa, Lewis...and Polanco and Castro switch hitting. Vs Kirilloff, Julien, Kepler, Wallner, the switch hitters...and Gallo (who everyone seems to want gone, and who has a better OBP and OPS than Mountcastle, and is way more useful defensively.)
  19. Who knows where Balazovic is without the DP from Anderson…with Robert and Jimenez to follow? Credit to him for getting it, though. But to me, it still feels like his results so far are kind of a house of cards. Hope I’m wrong.
  20. Sox send a total of 10 to the plate in the 8th and 9th…the batter who had PA in both innings being Robert. Don’t score. That called doing it the hard way.
  21. Both Jax and Duran were a little unlucky to get into trouble…but made the pitches when they had to. Very well-pitched game overall.
