  1. What are the chances the Acuna we have in the minors is Tommie to Ronald’s Henry?
  2. Well if there’s one thing we’ve learned so far…it’s that Matt Olson sucks.
  3. Once again, the offense can’t buy a strike out when it needs one.
  4. I saw a Rocco interview about a week or two ago when he admitted (maybe reluctantly) that the K’s are “a problem”. But when you’re giving at bats to Gallo, Julien, Buxton, Farmer, MAT…and the guys in the wings include Wallner and Larnach…yikes.
  5. Yeah…it just seems like he’s going to get his shot…maybe as soon as next year?…and maybe with a different club? He’s got to be rule 5 eligible, right?
  6. Too much conspiracy theory in these posts, IMO. I’m pretty sure the org has acknowledged the K’s are a problem. I’m sure they’re seeking solutions. The fact that Lewis is at least talking about ways to put more balls in play…I highly doubt the org sees that as a problem. Even the media is starting to treat Lewis as a leader. He’s getting lots of microphones stuck under his snout.
  7. I don’t mind the approach, if you’re good at it. If the Twins were good at it, their BB rate would be much better than it is, their HR rate would at least a little better than it is, and their K rate would/could be high, but not leading the league by a wide margin. Given the current roster…too many have no other club in the bag…and too many that DO (or at least should) have that club, aren’t using it nearly enough.
  8. Because of the potential of Ross’s power tool? How do they compare defensively?
  9. Joey Gallo? One of these guys OPS’d 621 (in Yankee Stadium, no less) last year, and is OPS’ing 767 this year. The other OPS’d 751 last year and is OPS’ing in the 600’s in AAA this year. Gallo was beyond horrible last year, and this year he’s merely not good. We all knew whatever we’d get from him…even if he hit 50 HR…would come with a ton of strikeouts and low BA. And if it’s performance vs contract…wouldn’t Correa or Buxton be the better candidates on that basis?
  10. Schobel separating himself prospect wise from Miller and Salas? At least seeming like he’s way ahead of them right now which shouldn’t be surprising, I guess…as Schobel is also 2 years older. Fwiw, Twins seem NOT to see Schobel as a SS option. Not one appearance there this year, even on off days for Miller.
  11. I’d say when you add a 5.12 ERA and a 1.431 WHIP to that, ‘mediocre’ is a pretty fair term, as far as 2023 results go. Now, that doesn’t mean the stuff/potential is mediocre. The org must like that part of it a whole lot, or he wouldn’t be our one and only representative.
  12. I mean…he’s K’ing right about at the team rate…above league average. However, if my hopeful eyes aren’t deceiving me, he does seem willing and able to adapt approach to some AB based on game situation and/or what the pitcher is trying to do with him. Health. Health. Health. He strikes me as one for whom the ability to think the game might be his biggest asset.
  13. Lewis is K’ing at about the same rate as the Twin’s average rate, which is above league average. He’s K’ing more than Kepler and Correa, to name a couple. He does seem to have the ability and wherewithal to adapt approach to some at-bats based on the game situation. Or maybe I’m just seeing things based on hope. Time will tell.
  14. I wouldn't be totally shocked if they reached a bit for Teel, assuming they think he's a mlb catcher. Don't know if that would be smart or not. I'd rather that than Dollander, tbh. Probably should just take either of the HS kids...I'm higher on Clark than Jenkins fwiw. But it will be tempting when drafting up here to go with someone they think can help sooner.
  15. The Reds also have a center fielder OPS’ing 849. Not quite the same opportunity cost. They also have a healthy budding star at second, and 2 corner outfielders OPS’ing 800-850. The Reds may be wasting De La Cruz’s range (I don’t know)…but they’re not sacrificing offense. The Twins are doing both.
  16. If he is a true 5-tool guy, he might be the first ever whose club chose to make him a 3rd baseman at age 24.
  17. I think most years I would be with you. This year, I say sell, bring on the youth, and take your chances in a horrible division. Win/win. Be in the 2023 “race” AND get better for 2024/2025. I know that’s probably being overly pessimistic. Or overly optimistic. I’m confused as to which.
  18. Fwiw, I don’t put Correa in that group today. Played 10 innings of flawless baseball at short. Very bad game result-wise on offense (although did put a really good swing on a ball that could have won the game in the 9th.) Not saying 162 games of that would justify his contract…but it’s not without value, either.
  19. Your math was correct. Just that one of the runs came curtesy of Manfred Mann and his Earth Band.
  20. very nice execution all around by the Twins in the 10th. Good to see.
