That sentiment sounds dumber when I restate it like that. I think it looks pretty ridiculous to make those statements when the players themselves don't react in any way, shape, or form suggesting they thought it was dirty. Players tend to overreact far more than underreact in the heat of the moment. Especially if they think it was something that could've hurt them. Not a single player on the Twins team (that was shown on TV, at least) looked upset in the least. They were just trying to steal an out with the review by getting technical with Vargas not having reached the base.

We are yet to see ERod, but all the others seem like good bets for one reason or another. Absolutely. I'm not knocking these guys. They were hyped for good reason. The organization just didn't know how to build a complete team around them. And they still don't.

Lose today or tomorrow and that’s a wrap, folks. Roll credits. Gang, they are seven games under .500. SEVEN GAMES UNDER .500. The fork is already stuck in. The wrap is already wrapped. I can read the credits, and it says "Produced by Tom Pohlad." Mike Sixel and Saxophone Joe 2

Wonder if a Twins pitcher will send a message to Vargas today, if the opportunity arises? Will they take a horse and buggy to the game too? Culpepper's parents probably weren't even alive yet when Martin managed. Mike Sixel, DJL44 and RpR 2 1

We're talking about the play where Vargas slid 3 feet short of KC and he gently, but slightly awkwardly, stepped over him after his throw? My goodness, you guys would need to do a lot of "message sending" if that's all it takes. Shelton would've looked like a fool on the field going crazy over that, and Jeffers, Jenkins, Keaschall, pick your favorite Twins hitter, wearing 100 in the ribs would be awfully upset with any pitcher who caused it by throwing at Vargas. And he slid towards the base, right? You can just slide wherever you want? Got it. there are times a jolt is needed. Rocco sucked but at least provided that. But you enjoy your bland brand of leadership, I'll enjoy mine. DJL44 and Mike Sixel 2

I can squint and see an extremely narrow path 5.5 down. I can’t at 7.5 down. I’m in the bargaining stage of grieving the 2026 Twins. LastOnePicked and DJL44 1 1

The only reason he didn't reach it was because KC was so far in front of it and he was avoiding taking KC out and/or getting hit in the face with a baseball. This isn't worth arguing about. If you think the players would've been pumped up at watching their manager make a fool of himself while they all knew he was yelling about a clean play, cool. You do you. But I don't think the players are idiots or so easily manipulated. DJL44 1

What I said is the players are not idiots or so easily manipulated that the manager yelling for any old reason is going to get them pumped up. They didn't think it was dirty. If they did, KC, Clemens, Lee, Lewis, Kremer, anyone on the infield would've let Vargas know. But they didn't. Because it wasn't dirty. The manager making a fool of himself while storming onto the field to yell about a clean play as if it was a dirty play would not make those full grown adult men go "Oh, my gosh! He really cares! He has our back! I really need to play so much harder now that I know he's willing to defend me when I don't need defending!" It'd make them say "Why are we wasting our time listening to you yell about a clean play like an idiot when we should just be playing ball? Go sit down." DJL44 and Mike Sixel 2
