Just like last year and 2024.

Yup. At least with this year, I didn't expect much. Slivers of hope when they were playing well in early July through the ASB but too many holes from top to bottom.

Some good to great performances. Shelton. Ryan. Bradley. Lee. Buck. Larnach. Jeffers. Bell. Clemens. Gomez. Morris. A few others I probably forgot.

Like Ryan and Duran? Or Bradley?

Don't know what you mean about Ryan, other than he was a good trade. In last year's sell off, Taj is ok, Roden is blah, Abel, jury still out. Rojas, not impressed. Everyone else, we wait. Not a great haul for what we traded.

You are saying Roden and Outman were good evaluations.  Is this a Falvey burner account.

Roden had a moment, that has to count for something! And he at least came with Rojas who will be a more reliable contributor. But the Outman/Stewart trade was not really a win for either team if we're being real here.

Only a few of the guys they traded were actually "major league level" players at the time of the trade. Expecting every player received in a trade to immediately be contributing at the big league level kind of misses the goal of what a sell is actually supposed to do. The fact that even 4 of those players have already in some level played a role in the big league club is proof that these were good evaluations of talent with the only real debate being if it was worth dropping the guy they did for them.

I don't agree that just because Roden, Rojas, Abel and Bradley have played on the big club they were successful trades. Just shows how weak we are. I do agree time will tell on others.

He had a walk off hit, I am sorry that doesn't make the trade a success or Roden a valued member of the team.

Roden is part of the team because his value and ability are the definition of what the Twins are.  Not because he is truly a valuable MLB player. The whole roster (except for a handful of players) falls under this definition.

And that is my frustration with this team, there is not a commitment to quality players.  I know my posts can come across as negative.  But in all the years I have been following this team,  I have always been able to see some kind of plan, which as a fan you should be able to, even if you don't agree.  But for the last few years I have no idea what this team's plan is. And I am beyond frustrated with this team.

Bradley is an objective improvement over Jax, the jury on Abel is still out depending on how he will do when he's back and whether Tait actually grows into something, and the only way I'd say the twins were wrong to get a guy like Rojas is more in the sense that it cost Louis Varland to get him but if the trade had JUST been Ty France, I would pretty reliably call that trade a win.

When you have a deadline fire sale, more often than not, you're getting lottery tickets in return. Very few prospects are can't miss. Abel. Tait. Rojas. Jury is and will remain out on those guys for a while.

I never saw Roden having a super high ceiling. He's a fourth outfielder on a contending team.

Let's see how Bradley does for the whole season.  Because I am still seeing the same issues he had with the Rays.  The Twins have smoothed some of those out but he still has command issues and can be very streaky.  Even though he seems to have minimized the streaks where he struggles.

They traded for Ryan.... I guess we only count last year's trades?

I know this has been re-hashed time and time again, but Lou Varland had 4.5 years of control. The Jays have all the time in the world as well and they’ve already lapped us on the trade. It still remains the biggest middle finger the FO has given to the fans.

It was bizarre at the time and looks even worse now. Will never understand it.

And if I remember correctly from the Falvey quotes, Zoll led this trade, so are we sure we want leading this trade deadline.

And honestly, for Rojas to make the Lou trade even barely acceptable, he'll have to hit a level he might not be capable of. Not his fault but the reality of a really, really stupid trade.

it was a pretty questionable overpay by the twins even then. you'd think ty france would've been enough

They definitely hit on that trade. But I think if you peel back the layers...they traded Cruz who was at the end of the line. That's the classic deadline deal. Trade the old head for a lottery ticket. Paid off in spades.

When you're trading guys with team control remaining when they're in the prime of their career, you better hit it big on the return or your franchise is set back for several years.

I’m getting pretty tired of the Twins playing like ass after the all star break.

I’d say it’s a trend at this point.

Who knows who led what when 10 trades happened last year. For Falvey’s future prospects in a FO I would distance myself from that trade too.

Pretty much Larnach and Wallner and Bell and Jeffers....

Well I was talking about the trade deadline mess from last year.  Do you think they pulled one over on the Rays or the blind squirrel found a nut? I might lean towards the latter with their recent lack of success.

I liked all the trades except the varland one. Ymmv.

I'll day this, if Rojas ever harnesses his stuff, that trade will also work

Zero teams get every trade right. I'm not going to say they suck because they got some wrong. Again, ymmv.
