With teams like Tampa and the New York Yankees desperately looking for a catcher the Twins should trade one of their catchers.

I wouldn't view it as a penny pinching move at all. Caratini is set to make 7m next season and if Jeffers stays healthy and keeps hitting he should easily command 10m+ for multiple years. It also doesn't make sense to have 17m tied up in catchers when they can't spend on the bullpen.

I also wouldn't want to lose Alex Jackson, he seems like a good backup and affordable. It doesn't make sense to carry 3 catchers all season either.  So I would hope they would capitalize on trading one of their top trade chips before the deadline.

Nightingale has already reported unless the Twins fall out of contention the next 2 weeks they aren’t trading Jeffers. Pohlad say what you will wants to go for it and complained we weren’t being active enough trading for bullpen pieces.  Next day or two we picked up Nance. I put the odds we get Coloumbe at 90%. That is a cheap pickup likely cash or minor piece. We need 1 high leverage arm- knocks everyone down a spot and the bullpen could be above average.

Even better they can just let him clear waivers and sign him. I don't think any other team will claim him.

I would be willing to trade them both and go with Jackson. The offers will have to be good ones.

I think Caratini is a sell high. Catchers don’t age well and he has 10 million on his contract next year when the buy out is included.

I would trade Jeffers for an FV50. Short of that I would make a qualifying offer,

I get that a Jackson has no walks and he might not hit. I don’t think Caratini is a primary catcher next year and 10 million is too much for the Twins to pay a second catcher. Maybe Jackson will show in regular play that he is part of a solution for next year.

Hey, last year we traded away most of our bullpen, so why not follow it up by trading most of our catchers too! But honestly, I think they need to try and trade Jeffers, seeing as how he'll be a free agent next season and the Twins seemingly are not going to be able, or willing, to sign him again.

Wondering who the twins could actually get for jeffers. He is most often linked to the Yankees. I would like to see a near mlb ready pitcher. On mlb pipeline they seem to have lots of pitchers fairly close to mlb ready in their top ten. Where would you draw the line: Rodriguez, Lagrange, Hesse, Cunningham, hampton?
