Brock Beauchamp Site Manager Posted May 19 Posted May 19 This team is going on a couple of weeks of competence now. Does this change your outlook for the team, either in the short-term or the long-term? Given the pitching injuries they've suffered, and the absolutely pathetic offensive showings, 22-26 ain't too bad, really. thelanges5 Verified Member Posted May 19 Posted May 19 Would expect some roster moves this week. Jeffers?, bullpen looking tired, Royce, Buck in or out? After a day off Thursday, they have a 16 game stretch. Vanimal46 1
thelanges5 Verified Member Posted May 19 Posted May 19 Theo Tollefson on the Saints: St. Paul Saints lineup for an 11:07 start today. Orlando Arcia and Alex Jackson are on the bench. #MNTwins catcher Ryan Jeffers did leave last night with a left wrist sprain, which he is getting an MRI on today. Plus Tristan Gray is expected to go on paternity leave any day.
hitterscount Verified Member Posted May 19 Posted May 19 Have said since the winter meetings and spring training including after the Lopez injury, they have a rotation that is good enough to be a winning team. The problem is that the areas that will hold them down is the OF, 1st, SS and a terrible BP. Clemens has stabilized 1st, Lee has become a average SS (probably better suited for 2nd or 3rd) and Larnach has been pretty good., which is why they are IMO over performing. The BP is statistically bottom tier but performed well last night and the Milwaukee series. Defense at times has been sketchy, but dumping Wallner helps. Overall the D has been alright. Zero expectations for me, the sh** show I expected isn’t there, they look competent and aren’t as bad as I would have guessed… so I will continue the MLB subscription for a bit… but yo contend for the division there are moves that need to be made….mainly 3rd, shoring up the OF and addressing the BP. That’s a lot to fix midseason. stringer bell 1

Twins_Fan_in_NJ Verified Member Posted May 19 Posted May 19 Feel awful for Royce. He doesn't always say the right thing and it might rub folks the wrong way. But, in 2023, he looked like he was going to be a franchise player. Injuries robbed him of that. Hopefully he can find his swing (and mechanics) in St. Paul and come back a better player - but I'm not sure. Church of Kreidler, SD happy, HarmonK03 and 2 others 5

A large number of rookie baseball players looked like he next Ted Williams or Babe Ruth for a short time then faded into a Minor League career or out of baseball. He is no different from any of those. LakesPibble and Twins_Fan_in_NJ 2

Maybe Royce and the Twins will be better off for it in the end. Twins_Fan_in_NJ, gil4, Church of Kreidler and 2 others 5

Not sure he finds his way but hopefully this works out for him and the Twins. hitterscount and thelanges5 2

I guess they can move someone (Abel) to the 60-day IL. Wouldn't hate Garcia going out and Bowman or Brebbia getting a shot. But in reality, probably not moving the needle with that kind of move.

I don't think the Twins have given up on the season, and would love to get some more fan butts in the seats by hanging around 0.500 through the ASB. Patzky, Twins_Fan_in_NJ and Vanimal46 3
Twins_Fan_in_NJ Verified Member Posted May 19 Posted May 19 Probably an example of too many moving parts in a short period of time, but I'd like to see them slide Lee over to 3B and give Arcia the SS job for the time being. Just seems like Lee's future is more likely at 3B especially when Culpepper gets the call. mrtwinsfan and Vanimal46 2

Does he still have the range and glove to play SS every day? Twins_Fan_in_NJ 1

Twins_Fan_in_NJ Verified Member Posted May 19 Posted May 19 Interestingly enough...seems like St. Paul had him at 2B more than SS or 3B.

Chris Hove Twins Daily Contributor Posted May 19 Posted May 19 I love KC, and I know he will be a huge part of the Twins' plans, but Arcia deserves the call-up. He is a veteran guy with experience, and has been hitting and fielding well at Triple-A. Do I think he will do the same thing with the Twins? No, but it's a huge upgrade over Lewis. Twins_Fan_in_NJ 1
