(Hope is not the same as expecting) He's shown no willingness to change anything about his across the board bad play. Shorten that slower than Luis Tiant in the stretch windup of his? NEVER!!! Work on making contact more than "hard contact" (hint - swing and miss is ALWAYS zero contact, and shocker, no power)??? NEVER!!! No adjustments = bad baseball Pardon my username but you are wrong, he has a new batting stance this year, halved the open stance and less of a legkick. Also i dont understand how underrated Wallner still is, even on a down year he had better WAR than most of the lineup. Hits HRs and doubles and walks. Bodie, Linus, jmlease1 and 1 other 2 2

Its early and wins don't matter , but performing does , roden , Rodriguez and Gonzales are off to a good start , our main core hasn't shown up yet , it's up to them to get the cobwebs cleaned out and start performing , wallner is a big concern , does he have options left to send to AAA , ive stated manyvtimes that he needs to change his approach but I haven't seen him try anything different , I'd like him to shorten his swing and lessen his violent bat speed for better contact , his homers might not go as far but he would hit more homers ... Wallner is a big concern right now in spring training , I want players on the 26 man roster that earn it .... Wallner has a new batting stance this year and is getting used to it. Theres a vid on MLB.tv, its less open and less of a legkick. Also even on a down year he has one of the best WAR on the team and was named as one of the most underrated players on many lists. Better yet, build a time machine and forget to give him an arbitration number.

Even in his down season, he still had the fourth highest OPS on the team last year. So yeah, he does give pretty good production. And if he gets that on-base percentage back up in the .370 range like it was 2023-24, he's a really good player to have in the middle of the lineup. Also lost in last year, he hit left handed pitching really well. He actually had a 20% K rate against left handed pitching vs a 30% K rate vs right handers. Baldelli shouldn't have been platooning this guy ever. MattWallnerFan 1

He deserves to be in there though. Just wanted to say I greatly appreciate your willingness to answer and debate points and/or questions raised in the comments section of your article. Spring training stats mean nothing (unless you're horrible). Everybody's working on their stuff. Roden had much better stats last spring before stinking up the joint in MLB, Doesn't matter, none of it. RpR 1
laloesch Verified Member Posted March 3 Posted March 3 Marco Raya is looking more and more like a RP or worse yet a bust. Command has always been an issue with him. He got knocked around hard in St. Paul last season in 20 starts and 10 relief appearances. He might be a candidate for the pen going forward.

Or mid 20s (some as old as those that are considered under performing vets) that are basically prime age but haven’t been able to perform in the Show yet, only in AAA ball? To me, kids are less than 23. Let the rookies play! :)
