Those are the reasons he doesn't stick in the majors, kinda like Julien, he makes mental mistakes, and tends to take bad routes on the balls in the outfield.

Find 1 permanent spot for players so they can succeed  , they want players to play multiple positions and don't care about the defense part of it ...

Why pitch Urena instead of calling up Taj Bradley

The Twins put out a statement saying Triple-A is an excellent place for him to refine his pitch mix, particularly his secondary pitches, to become a more effective and reliable starter at the major league level.

This 100%.  I've always felt like there is a lot of value for humans in knowing where they will slot in the lineup every day, what position they are committed to long term, etc.

I loath the "anybody can play anywhere" Twins philosophy.

But in Martin's case, I don't think that's the issue. Martin's issue is that he's never going to be able to play anywhere.

He's not a good defender. He'll never be one.

Reside in CA and attend ALL of the Twins games when they are here. I will go to only 1 game during the upcoming Angels series. It is Mike Trout bobblehead day and is why i will attend. I bought a ticket for $7.00 on seat geek. A person can easily move down seats at the Big A.

From what I'm watching, he could work on that up here and still be more effective than TBD.

Also listening to the game, Rocco thinks we need to start being better at baserunning, which includes going home with no outs on contact only to be thrown out. Sorry , that guy has no business being in a MLB dugout making the decisions.

But why?  What can be developed in AAA that can't be developed in the situation the Twins find themselves in.  Can't be cuz the results don't matter.  They matter as much in St Paul as they do in Minneapolis right now.  Wouldn't it be better to get some immediate feedback on how the changes play in MLB?  Instead of guessing/hoping they'll translate to MLB next year?  Even if he gets shelled - which, again, who cares if he does, the results don't matter - they can identify which elements might be working better than others, then build off that into next year.

And it's not like we're talking about throwing someone with limited experience beyond A ball into the fire.  Bradley and Abel have already seen MLB action.  Bradley's seen plenty.

Today's game is like an extended "opener" game, with Urena never pitching more than 4 1/3 innings in a start. He hasn't been that bad lately.

He made up for that in the second inning.  ERA should skyrocket!  The only interesting thing that remains is if we will be shut out on offense.

Yes, I agree, I'm on the same plan as you. Instead of getting all of these veteran pitchers who we already know won't do squat, let's get the young guys up and see what they can do. I also said a while ago that France should be traded and call up Sabato. Call up Fedko, Gonzalez, or Rodriguez if he is ever healthy. With Larnach's status murky for next year, you gotta see what you have in these other OF options

Rocco's correct.

If only there was some person responsible for stuff like that. A person--say a guy in charge of team play...a guy to manage all this--who could emphasize these kinds of things. Maybe teach them. Heck, even notice them before say, 7 years go by.

Alas, there's just nothing that can be done

I suppose they have to come up with a reason since they can't explicitly state the actual reason: service time manipulation

Who on earth do we have that's clearly worth manipulating service time for??

Does anyone know why we never sign a number 1 draft choice that is very close to playing in the major leagues ...

I know the twins procedures is to get a first round draft choices to agree to a signing of under slot dollars  so they can spend over slot on others ...

Maybe they should just get a player closet to the major leagues and sign him over slot for a first rounder ...

Other team's the past five years have been picking draft choices in first round or even in lower rounds and have them playing in the major leagues their first year of professional ball ...

To answer my question  , it is a money issue , finding the best talent at a price they are comfortable with , not finding the best player to play the game ...

Yeah, and any other team would take upgrades/potential over ruining service time. The Twins are obsessed with it. However, the Twins will probably wait until Sept 1 when rosters expand.

MLBPA doesn't like those words.

I don't even think service time is an issue for Bradley, is it?

He came into 2025 with 1.14 yrs of service time.

He'll be arb eligible in 2027 with a full year in 2026, or a full year in 2026 and all the remainder of 2025 and all of 2026.

And he's out of options in 2026 so he's locked into next year's active roster.

Makes no sense
