Yeah, and any other team would take upgrades/potential over ruining service time. The Twins are obsessed with it. However, the Twins will probably wait until Sept 1 when rosters expand.

Also, to elaborate, the whole keeping fans engaged and happy is nowhere on their priority list, so they will do whatever they can to keep salaries low and still have control. The fans don't mean anything to them. At some point, they should realize that.

I don't even think service time is an issue for Bradley, is it?

No, but he's due for pre-arb next year, and if he does any good at the MLB level, he will be due for a raise, something the owners don't want.

Who on earth do we have that's clearly worth manipulating service time for??

The short answer is no one.  But service time manipulation isn't just about retaining control for an extra year; it can also delay the built-in raises that come with arbitration.  I wouldn't put it past the Twins to be trying to push arbitration raises as far into the future as they can, especially if my theory is correct that they're running expenses as low as they can while banking on/hoping for a better structure for them post-CBA

I loath the "anybody can play anywhere" Twins philosophy.

But in Martin's case, I don't think that's the issue. Martin's issue is that he's never going to be able to play anywhere.

He's not a good defender. He'll never be one.

The infield at second base he has performed okay , but because the team feels Martin is athletic enough to play anywhere he is failing  , the team don't like him in the infield and the fans don't like him in the outfield  , when we ever going to win ...

Now we have 2 outfielders that are not athletic but play the corners around average at best  , why haven't they at least tried to move a larnach or wallner to first base , I scratch my head about this as well

Does anyone know why we never sign a number 1 draft choice that is very close to playing in the major leagues ...

I know the twins procedures is to get a first round draft choices to agree to a signing of under slot dollars  so they can spend over slot on others ...

Maybe they should just get a player closet to the major leagues and sign him over slot for a first rounder ...

Other team's the past five years have been picking draft choices in first round or even in lower rounds and have them playing in the major leagues their first year of professional ball ...

To answer my question  , it is a money issue , finding the best talent at a price they are comfortable with , not finding the best player to play the game ...

They don't recognize MLB talent so they can't draft it.

He came into 2025 with 1.14 yrs of service time.

He'll be arb eligible in 2027 with a full year in 2026, or a full year in 2026 and all the remainder of 2025 and all of 2026.

And he's out of options in 2026 so he's locked into next year's active roster.

Makes no sense

I thought they could potentially push his arb eligibility into 2028, but I also don't fully understand the super 2 rules.  If they can't then I'm really confused

Yeahbut...pre arb rasies are negligible.  A couple hundred thou.

Not even the Pohlads care about paying someone $750K vs $950K.

Bradley will be arb eligible in 2027 no matter what they do in 2025.

They traded Jax for a guy they apparently think needs time in AAA.

I don't get it.

We will keep shaking our heads for years to come, I'm sure.

There was just an ad for XOLAIR on the broadcast,  which I bring up only to say that in that ad, they showed a carton of butter pecan ice cream

Stuff is like crack cocaine to me. The. Best. Ice. Cream. Flavor. Ever. Period.

Looks like a humdinger of a game right now. I'm on the edge of my seat.

That's gotta hurt for those twenty minutes innings by the visitors.
