Yes, they typically stay in a hotel nearby. If they have an off day after a three-game trip, they usually travel on the off day. If they play the next day, they will leave after the last game of the series, if that makes sense.

I have a theory that doubleheaders are more likely to end in a split than any two random games.  If every game's a coin flip, then it would be a split 50% of the time.  But between the winner of game 1 being more likely to burn their top bullpen arms, the game 1 loser trying extra hard to avoid a sweep, and the game 1 winner having a natural easing up after having a win banked away, I figured splits would happen well above 50% of the time.  

I started trying to track it a couple years ago.  In 2023 splits did happen quite a bit more often.  Last year was a pretty even split.  And so far this year, splits have only happened in 3 of 10 doubleheaders so far.

In conclusion, I've wasted a lot of my/my employer's time
