Gonna guess that not many people had ever heard of the royals manager before last season. Yet here they are. Only the 6th team since 1969 to add 30 wins in a season. A game away from ending the Astros run of ALCS appearances. Whole bunch of bench coaches and assistants out there just waiting for a chance…

Best of 3 series in the playoffs are bogus. Both the Astros and orioles finished with better records than, and were better head to head against their wild card opponents. And they’re done. Well, not yet for Baltimore.

Any team can win a 3 game series. The white Sox won 7 of them.

I'd consider making the lesser team win 2 games, and the better team only 1, but that still doesn't solve your problem .....

Wonder if they could ever do 3 five game series throughout the playoffs. But then the top seeds would be sitting for a week. The 3 games just doesn’t seem right to me.

I’d be ok with the Yankees winning the ALDS and losing the CS. Even though it would be an ALC team doing it. Yankees hate trumps all (to me. Although it would definitely be tough to see Detroit in the WS.

The current format is really, really good.

Nothing wrong with a best of 3 for the 3rd-6th best records in each league. 

Two best records are still in it in both leagues.

MLB has done well with it's inevitable playoff expansion format.

The 3rd and 4th best teams used to get a best of 5. I know they used to get nothing before the recent franchise expansions, but I think the top 3/4 should get more of a chance. Sure, this is slightly better than the one game wild card playoff. Baseball is too much of a crapshoot for anything less than 5 IMO

In two years of this format, the World Series has been 1 vs 6 and 5 vs 6.  With the way the Tigers and Mets look right now, I wouldn't be totally shocked if one of them can make it 3 for 3 for the 6 seeds.

They'd never do this, but I think the teams on bye should receive more of an advantage than 3 home games out of 5 to compensate for almost a week of rust.  Japan has a team on bye in their playoffs too, but they get to start their series up 1-0.  The expanded playoff genie ain't going back in that bottle, and my plan is about as likely as Dave St Peter being named Twins Daily Executive of the Year, but I wish they could find some way to more substantially reward the teams that proved their excellence over 162 games
