Orioles playoff losing streak now at 10 games, longest in baseball 😬

So it would take the 4 more years of being swept in the WC round to tie the twins 😂

Tough break O's

Felt like the padres were going to be a problem back when the twins played them. That place is crazy when the crowd goes nuts

Personally, I am for Detroit to win it all, as they have the lowest payroll on their playoff roster.  Many teams have single players making more than their whole team.  They are on crazy hot run with young guys and it would make a great story.

I'm having a hard time routing for Detroit because they are Detroit... But Yeah... I am cheering for them... for the exact reason that you state.

I want to see a 20 million dollar club win it all and then watch everybody forget that it happened when everybody loses their minds over the Twins not spending money next year.

Pinch hit homer for the brewers. Manny Margot was due to run in to one like that eventually, per Rocco

Missed it.  Was on the phone and all of a sudden it was 2-0.

Detroit's 2024 payroll is $98.5M.

Feel like the brewers ought to have a pretty long postseason series losing streak at this point

edit: looks like 5 straight series losses

Their playoff payroll is much, much,  lower

Which is completely irrelevant.

Would you say the Twins payroll was $70m in September when Buxton, Correa, Kepler and Ryan were on the IL?

It's not irrelevant to the point I'm making! I thought you were smart enough to know that.

Do you not understand the point that I'm making?

Forget the money reference if it's confusing the point I'm making.

Them Tigers seemed to get hot after the Vets were traded, released, hurt or placed on the inactive list. Them Tigers are awfully young and winning baseball games and I am therefore cheering for them. Is that better?

Is it your intention to focus the conversation to the 98.5 Million and where the players making the BULK of that money are since the Tigers took off like a rocket without them?

If you require me to take that approach... I'll gladly do it and we will just to end up at the same location.

Which is of course.

Them Tigers seemed to get hot after the vets were traded, released, hurt or placed on the inactive list. Them Tigers are awfully young and winning baseball games and I am therefore cheering for them.

As for your Correa, Buxton, Kepler and Ryan argument.

I'll give you Baez and his 25 million so you can place him in your group. I'll even give you Trey Sweeney since he was acquired in the Flaherty deal.

Not sure if Baez and Sweeney are going to be helpful to ya... Because Them Tigers seemed to get hot after the vets were traded, released, hurt or placed on the inactive list and I am therefore cheering for them.

Even though I really hate cheering for the Tigers.

You quoted a guy talking about the playoff roster. Nothing sinister or whatever about my comment. Lighten up francis

That is my point and you understand what I meant by it.

Yeah, you made a misleading post about money.

My post about money was an attempt to lead people exactly where I wanted them to go. I can only assume (I don't know) that you were misled because you want it to go someplace else

The Tigers were 52-57 prior to the trade deadline.

They went 34-19 after shedding (I'm not looking up the exact numbers) 80 million worth of the 100 million they spent this season via trade, release, minimizing the role and placing on the inactive playoff list and of course the disputed Javier Baez injury.

Leaving approximately 20 million worth of ball club (according to what they currently are paid) to make up significant ground in a short period of time and knock off the Houston Astros in the first round.

There is no way that you don't understand my point.

I'm not suggesting that every team should try this. I'm not even suggesting that money isn't important and I'm sure the Tigers will attempt to fortify this young club in the off-season next year because they have plenty of money to play with.

But today as it stands... the Tigers turned their season around and have advanced to the next round with a roster of about 20 million worth of ball club.

I'm suggesting that the Tigers are just another example that money isn't the be all end all, I'm suggesting that I'm not afraid of youth and I'm suggesting making the playoffs is significant.
