Green Bay week.

Will they play Love? Obviously this is a big game for them, but if they put him in there, they'll be sweating it out all game. They've seen what the Vikings pass rush has done to the other QBs and if Love is even a bit hobbled....

I think they play Love and part of me is happy?  He's going to be rusty, possibly skittish, and we may be able to get an early advantage.

But the Packers are a really well coached team, I think it's going to be a great game.  Probably one score game with a key turnover making the difference one way or the other.

I expect Jones to be used HEAVILY in a revenge game too.

With or without Love, if the Vikings play like they did against SF and Houston, they'll kill the Packers, and quite possibly Jordan Love.

But we're all Vikings fans, so we all know if there's one game they'll relapse, it would be this one.

That's my concern.  I'm too excited to play them....being a Minnesota sports fan has trained me to anticipate impending pain in these situations.

I think the Vikings win.

Willis had a huge revenge game last week. Killing the Titans was big for him. He isn't really part of GB/MIN hatred yet. So if he starts, I think he comes down a bit. We'll beat him

If they start Love, the front seven will make him skittish. He didn't look great the first game either, plus the rust. We'll beat him.

I also think our offense can hang a few big plays on them. I think we win something like 31-13. A nice big blow out so when Lucy pulls the ball away later this season ...

I learned last year to just enjoy the ride while it lasts and have fun. That's what being a fan should be about (not what mostly happens on this site on the Twins' parts).

Truly great advice, but the visceral intensity all that PTSD......

That said, how great would it be to beat the Packers at Lambeau, fly to London and kick the crap out of A-Aron, and go into the bye 5-0?  A fella can dream.

Without looking, True or False:

The Kansas City Chiefs play a game this season on every day of the week except Tuesday and Wednesday.

I assume false. The Friday game was in Brazil wasn't them (unless there's another one).

The correct answer is false, but not because of the Brazil game.

Trick question, because they do play a Friday and Wednesday game.

  • Wednesday: Christmas day game at Pittsburgh
  • Thursday: Season opener
  • Friday: Day after Thanksgiving against Raiders
  • Saturday: Week 15 against the Texans
  • Sunday: Sunday games of course
  • Monday: They play a couple Monday night games.

It was 14 years ago when the Vikings played in Philly on that Tuesday night, because of a snowstorm. It was the first NFL game on a Tuesday in the modern era.

Now, the NFL has taken over every day of the week, including the important days, and rumor has it the SuperBowl will be pushed back to the end of February pretty soon.

It didn't really hit me until I was looking at KC's schedule this morning, that the NFL is basically everywhere now, all the time.

From what I heard, they always had a deal with the NCAA that they'd leave Saturday alone until the NCAA regular season was over. And what I further heard was that when they go to 18 games the extra one will push the opening week earlier into the season instead of the season later, meaning they'll be out of the NCAA window. When that happens, they'll have opening weekend start on Thursday, end on Monday and they can probably schedule enough games in that time frame to not have any overlapping games.

And what my gut tells me, is that basically 48 hours of straight NFL (16 games x 3 hours) is going to be too much and might start turning some fans off. At the very least, a lot of pissed off wives.

The NFL has played on Thursday and Saturday for a long time, since the 80s at least. the Fog Bowl was a Saturday morning game.

But your second point was exactly what I was getting at. It feels like too much. Maybe I’m just a crank, and don’t understand The Kids anymore. I don’t know but I doubt it. The NFL going out of its way to schedule a game on Christmas when it’s on a Wednesday, combined with the tight relationship with the gambling industry, it feels out of control and not good. I guess that’s the bigger issue.

I don't think they've regularly played Saturday games until after the NCAA regular season is over though. Not for quite some time anyway.

The Ravens destroyed Buffalo 35-10. The NFL is tough. I think Buffalo is one of the top three teams in the league but winning on the road against good teams is really hard. This is what the NFL is best at among all the big sports leagues. So I wouldn't worry too much about giving up 22 points in the fourth quarter to GB. We won, we're a good team. Enjoy the season. The playoff loss at home to the Bucs will come soon enough.

Exactly, 4-0 in the NFL is no small thing.  The Vikings got a lot of bad breaks and still walked out with a win.

That interception in the red zone shouldn't have counted.  The muffed punt should've never happened.  Those were enormous momentum swings.  And they still won!

You are correct. I was just pointing out that the NFL is so copycat that you’d hope it wasn’t a “they figured out how to score on our defense” thing. Love had nearly 400 yards passing and after it looked like he could get pulled in the first half

And the non-hip drop tackle that should have resulted in 15 yards instead of setting up the next play for Darnold to get crushed and fumble.

Yeah I think I grew to hate Seattle when the Vikings were sent there every year for a scheduled butt kicking. Then of course the playoff FG miss.

But Detroit is going to be a problem.
