Pitching costs a premium, and especially guys who can miss bats. The fact is, ownership won't pay up in free agency, the front office won't pay up in the trade market, and they take 1 pitcher in the first 6 rounds of the draft this year, and this is what you get. A bunch of guys like Zebby, SWR, and Festa that have good or bad outings depending on how their BABIP luck goes that day.

Ok, so you are the second guy to say throwing high pitches is on the coaches.  Can you explain this?  I turned on the game mid-1st and missed pregame.  Was this something they discussed?  Seems to me this is just a situation of bad command by a rookie pitcher.

It was talked about by Perkins that was the game plan because they don't hit 4 seam fastballs well.  He needs to set up his fastball with his other pitches.

It's a late round pick pitching like a late round pick, there is no mystery here. The Twins think they are smarter than everyone else and can turn guys into aces by adding a couple ticks of velo. Meanwhile other teams are taking SEC/Big 12/ACC/top high school pitching early and often and aren't starting 3 rookies in a wild card race.

They travel annoyingly well. Twins have been bottom 1/3 in the league in attendance all season. Ownership probably welcomes the bump

I remember when Tyler duffey had a similar outing in his rookie year also against the blue jays. That was his debut though.
