Mike Sixel Old-Timey Member Posted July 15, 2024 Posted July 15, 2024 I'd have taken brecht there..... If you never take a pitcher early, it's harder to get elite talent.... Jack, milldam and Doctor Wu 3

AlwaysinModeration Verified Member Posted July 15, 2024 Posted July 15, 2024 It seemed like a good opportunity to get Brecht to me. Mike Sixel and Doctor Wu 2
nova_twins Verified Member Posted July 15, 2024 Posted July 15, 2024 Not a fan of selecting two very similar, low ceiling players like that. It's supposedly a bad draft so maybe there are legit problems with the 'upside' choices but still . . . Particularly odd given that the org is a little light in OF depth.
DJL44 Verified Member Posted July 15, 2024 Posted July 15, 2024 That could easily be two underslot picks Jocko87 1

I was also hoping for Brecht there, but they do take pitchers early. Doctor Wu 1
2wins87 Verified Member Posted July 15, 2024 Posted July 15, 2024 Not that into the diversity/upside for the Twins draft so far. I think maybe the theory might be that there is a kind of safety in good athletes, particularly in a weak draft. They will find a defensive home and if they can just get some of the tools to work on offense you end up with something, even if it doesn't end up a complete profile. Kind of makes sense I suppose Dman 1

Twins33 Verified Member Posted July 15, 2024 Posted July 15, 2024 The last time I was this “meh” about a Twins draft was 2020. Hopefully this turns out better than it looks and better than 2020…

Most teams, from what I read, aren't excited about anyone after the first round. If they get something out of this draft, we should be impressed.
nova_twins Verified Member Posted July 15, 2024 Posted July 15, 2024 Culpepper isn't underslot. DeBarge maybe a little, but that's not super valuable in a weak draft.

What does that have to do with drafting players 10 to 100 spots earlier than projected? And no, you shouldn't ever aim low in a draft.

AlwaysinModeration Verified Member Posted July 15, 2024 Posted July 15, 2024 It looks like the two high school pitchers are hard signs, could the Twins target one of them with one of their next picks?

AlwaysinModeration Verified Member Posted July 15, 2024 Posted July 15, 2024 Tommy White seems like a very Oakland A’s pick.
Roaddog Verified Member Posted July 15, 2024 Posted July 15, 2024 Culpepper isn't my favorite, but I can live with him. But two shortstops? Not sure about that one
