Doctor Gast Verified Member Posted January 13, 2024 Posted January 13, 2024 For about a week, I was feeling like I was going through the process of passing a kidney stone. On 12/29 the pain was getting worse so Magali took me to the hospital & they gave me a tomograph. I did have a kidney stone actually 2 of them but I also had a perforated appendicitis, By all rights I should have died but the good Lord had mercy on me (I think? Just kidding). In some cases the the intestines encapsulate the perforated appendicitis, that's what happened to me. They rushed me into surgery. The surgery took 3 1/2 hrs & it took me 3 hrs to wake up. All I can remember was that I just wanted to see Magali. To make a long story short. Went through some obstacles & setbacks. But through the Lord's grace, we were able to overcome them. After 2wks in the hospital, I was released on good behavior on 2wks of in-house antibiotic IVs. The main obstacle left is the infection, so pray for a quick recovery from the infection. So after a 2 wks off it's good to be back! It doesn't look like I missed much though. Dman, sweetmusicviola16, Richie the Rally Goat and 13 others 12 4

SteveLV Verified Member Posted January 13, 2024 Posted January 13, 2024 If ever a time for a ardent Twins fan to miss, it was these last 2 weeks. Perhaps your speedy recovery will coincide with some action by the Twins FO now. They were waiting for you! Oldgoat_MN, Dman and Doctor Gast 3
JD-TWINS Verified Member Posted January 13, 2024 Posted January 13, 2024 Should Twins trade Julien or Lee or neither……..maybe Polanco or Farmer……all discussed in the most feverish amount of total responses I recall over past couple years I’ve followed the TD site. Only real news from last 2 weeks. Get better! Doctor Gast 1
Blyleven2011 Verified Member Posted January 13, 2024 Posted January 13, 2024 Glad to have you back and thoughts and prayers for a fast recovery ... You didn't miss any Twins decisions except some awful minor league signings for depth maybe , none of them are encouraging ... but alot of action with other teams , free agent signings , trades and of course minor league signings ... Get well ... Doctor Gast 1
stringer bell Verified Member Posted January 13, 2024 Posted January 13, 2024 Wow, glad you survived your ordeal. Get well soon. Baseball is just around the corner (about a month from pitchers and catchers reporting). Doctor Gast 1

Oldgoat_MN Verified Member Posted January 13, 2024 Posted January 13, 2024 Thanks for sharing. And welcome back! I hope this adventure where something comes out of (seemingly) nowhere has given you time to reflect on your relationships. That has been the most illuminating part for me since an underwhelming diagnosis. When you slow down enough to appreciate the love in your life it can bring a calm and peace you've not taken the time to bathe in before. I hope that's true for you. And yes. The Twins have been incredibly annoying! God forbid they get out front of anything! (I'd acknowledge the Vazquez signing last year, but that would make my righteous indignation seem as childish as it is) Hopefully they were just waiting for you and are ready to pounce on a great trade. To your health! sweetmusicviola16 and Doctor Gast 2
sweetmusicviola16 Verified Member Posted January 13, 2024 Posted January 13, 2024 Sounds like the Lord isn't finished with you yet and will see you through to a full recovery, praise be. In 2017 I was in the same situation with gallstones. I could have easily died. For a couple of days I sure wanted to. Glad you are back. As for the Twins, and speaking of stones, they have laid quite the brick this offseason. At this point I am not expecting them to do much, maybe a lower level FA sign or two, as I think they are on the course of building within. It sure worked well for Baltimore last season and who knows maybe the Twins this season. Doctor Gast and Oldgoat_MN 2
