Ya think? This FO seems to miss the simple things and react very slowly. I think a lot of teams have handled veterans coming back from injury the same way, though. There's frequently deference to the veteran player (especially position players) in coming back from an injury on whether they go out on a rehab assignment. I also wonder if there's any rules about it in the CBA? For the Twins it's going to be easier to convince a guy to go down on a rehab assignment when they can just slide over to Saint Paul for a week, another potential advantage to having their AAA affiliate on the opposite end of a light rail line. This is one of those clubhouse management aspects. Easy for us to say "Go down to the minors for a week or two and get your timing back", but some of the veterans might easily respond with "I'm a professional, I'm ready to go, I don't need that, stop wasting my time." How you manage your way through those potential conflicts will matter.
Eephus Verified Member Posted July 5, 2023 Posted July 5, 2023 I liked the at bats in the 7th inning. Clutch Kiriloff hit. Somewhat dismayed when Witgren then went walk, Hbp, walk and up comes Vazquez. First pitch ball. Vazquez then swings at a pitch out of the strike zone. 😒

The schedule is soft all July. Perfect situation for the FO to misjudge what this team is heading to the trade deadline. I know I'd have felt better if the Royals swept the Twins and Greinke struck out maybe 25 batters in 4 perfect innings.😜 Craig Arko 1

He gets one - maybe two more starts. Slow grounders to 2B & pop ups in the infield are no way to work your way back into the line-up. Errors and wild throws over 3-4 games don’t help either. Gotta let Castro & Farmer cover 3B and get Wallner in Miranda’s spot after the break. RpR 1
