Has Julien ever played the outfield actually?

Yes, and 3B. The Twins have totally abandoned that. He's worse at those positions than 2B. Absolutely love the hitting though.

This is a pretty negative nancy post.  There's nothing to suggest they don't believe in Lanarch and Wallner,

Larnach is in the minors probably because his bat , that many use as the way to judge a player, has gone cold; Wallner is as bad in RF as Julien is at 2nd base.

The people who run the Twins are not blind to their current detriments.

Sadly, Larnach is actually pretty good in the outfield.

I'd trade polanco as soon as anyone will take him, so Julien can stay in the lineup. Not necessarily because he's better, but because he's healthy. Polanco will just get hurt again.....I don't particularly care what I get for him at this point.

That’s crazy. Polo has been about the Twins best player over the last several years and has the best chance of jump starting this lineup. Not to mention Julien is the lead in the anvil chorus. He is one of the worst defenders to be brought up in a long while.

What do you all hope to see the Twins do at the deadline?

Blow it up?  Get a top end bat or two and turn this thing around?  Stand pat?

Because this team is not a WS contender but still make the playoffs because there division is terrible, I think they should not make any splashy moves unless they get an offer for Sonny Gray they can't refuse.  I am a big believer in trading your prospects if it bolsters an already contending team.  This is not a contending team and might make the playoffs with a losing record.  So I do not believe we should by buyers.  We do have some attractive pieces that I think the twins should take phone calls on but only trade if they offer is way too good to pass up.

Totally agree. This team might win 84 games and make the playoffs, but it isn’t a World Series contender.

If they are buyers, I want hitting, hitting, hitting. Now, the OF needs the most replacing, and they have two guys in AAA, so not sure what I do if I'm them (and I don't love the OF prospects).

AK isn't hitting after his start, but I'm willing to roll with it a bit more to see if he improves (like to the deadline). You also have people in AAA that can play first, and move AK to the OF.....

I have no idea what to do with him. Lewis getting hurt is a huge blow.

And Miranda is now on the DL which does not hurt the Twins.  3rd base by committee until Lewis returns; regardless of Miranda's status.

We don't know exactly how long Lewis will be out. I think that might move a third baseman up on the list of possible acquisitions. Castro's recent struggles with the bat and Farmer's so-so at best first half don't inspire confidence for the next month plus.

Jose Miranda

If I owned this club, I wouldn't trade low on Miranda. He's not striking out, his BABiP is crazy low and he's seeing fewer pitches this year than last. I think whatever the change in hitting philosophy or coaching was this year is impacting him more than many of the other hitters, and if there's a possibility of front office and managerial changes, I'd let the next group take a look at him first.

Basically, I don't trust those in charge to make these calls at the moment.

I'm more convinced than ever that this shoulder issue has been a problem all year. If I'm a rival front office out of contention, I'm going to try to buy low.

I believe Miranda may have some upside, but 3B is for Lewis in the future and Lee is coming as well.    He will need to go.   I would also like to see Kepler traded

He seems to have a strong arm, how hard is it to teach him to play left field?

Even if the accuracy is a bit off, a fielder who can throw from the edge of the warning track to home plate puts fear in runners.
