Cubs TV guys have now entered the Mary Tyler Moore Discussion part of the show.

Lol, didn’t catch that as I’m only half listening

That is a silly stretch of hard hit baseballs, on both sides.

Mervis also answered my question about 1.000 xBa.

That would be my guess. With Miranda and Royce also waiting in the wings, it makes me wonder how much longer Solano will be on the roster.

I think we had this convo yesterday Re Solano. I don’t think he was signed to make it through the season. He was signed as a stop gap. If Royce covers that gap, I think it’s buh bye Solano

So when Kepler is healthy, who gets sent down?

Gordon. Decision time coming. At least Castro can function in the infield.  But probably just Larnach again in truth.

Gordon doesn't have options so he would have to pass through waivers and go unclaimed for a minor league assignment.

What impressed me about Gallo there was not the laying out attempt at the catch, but how quickly he recovered and got the ball in.

I wonder if the ground was shaking from such a big man hitting the deck

Gordon has no options left so sending him down likely means he’s gone from the Twins. I’m not quite ready to do that, but, realistically it is an option.

I wonder if he would rather be DFA or would accept a AAA assignment. I'm not sure what options were in his contract.

79 pitches for Varland thru 6. Keep him in. Doesn't hurt to rest the pen for another day with LAD waiting for us tomorrow.

It will be interesting to see if any bullpen moves happen before the west coast trip.

I'm with you 100%, Gordon has been slumping but I think he can still be a significant contributor to this team's success. And if someone like Taylor gets hurt in CF, it will probably be Gordon to step in (unless Buxton is deemed "healthy" to play the field).

I'm not sure of the roster situation. Who's eligible to be added?

Good question. There have been so many shuffles it’s hard to keep up.

If he continues to hit at roughly his career averages before the Yankees like he is now then I think it's a great signing. I just don't think Gallo can be one of your 2 thru 5 hitters. I actually like him at leadoff because he generally takes decent ABs and gets on base at a decent clip and then will go through stretches of pounding the ball into the seats. I think in that world it's good for him to get a lot of ABs so he can roll the dice a lot of times to make the most amount of hard contact. If you have a better option at leadoffs I like him at like the 7th spot where it's fine when he goes through his cold stretches. He gets on base even with his lack of contact more than other bottom the order players and so then the power is just gravy.

I think it really helps that he's a plus defender at 2 different positions and has that versatility.

And Mr, Gallo  ALWAYS  Hustles !!!!
