Buxton with a day off.  I still like the top half of the lineup though.

Hopefully Maeda is up to the task dueling Alcantara.  Could be a tough one.

No doubt this will be a tougher game to win, with Alcantara going for the fish. Hopefully, Maeda gives us a good start and we're in the game.

In my estimation, it's the toughest test yet.  And a lot of it rides on Maeda's ability to match Alcantara.

Only took 5 games before Rocco went with his patented “give up before they start” games. Can’t say I miss these. He seems to do this about 10 times a year.

Well now, that is a different lineup. Wonder if now having Thursday off made it change, instead of giving Buxton the Wednesday travel day off. Or maybe it's strategy, we have a much better chance to win on Wednesday - probably not.

Well, not exactly an Opening Day lineup, but this team is supposed to be deep. I'm hoping Willi Castro does something good today. Don't really see it happening, but I'm hoping anyway.

Not sure I follow totally there.  Only Buxton and Kepler are different from the opening day lineup.  Kepler is dinged up.  Solano and Castro have seen limited action, so they're due to get some time eventually.

It's not their best lineup, but far from one of Gardy's getaway day lineups.

Other than Buxton being out, how so? Seriously?

Guess then it’s the Buxton thing. He ran one time yesterday and was out of the game by the 7th inning. Resting someone who doesn’t need it with Thursday off is just bizarre. Of course this regime hides injuries from their fans as well so who knows what’s going on.

How is it bizarre?

Castro and Solano need to get into a game at some point.  And they're doing it by keeping the defensive alignment unchanged aside from Kepler/Castro.

Wondering just how bad Buxton's health actually is. It can't be good.

Can't play the field, 3 days at DH in a row is apparently the limit.

Not good.

I guess I'd rather have him sit Buxton early against a tough RHP on a team that has only scored 9 runs in 5 games.  Castro for Kepler is injury related.  Buck will be back against the lefty tomorrow, but we might see Gordon and Gallo sit while Kepler gets an extra day "just to be safe".

So, what sort of pastries do we need to get Kepler to make his knee better?

Apfelstrudel?

That would make me feel better, I know that for sure.

I am not confident in Maeda.  We could easily see the fish break things open and find ourselves down 5-1 in the fourth.  That's not necessarily a loss, but it's not what we've gotten from the previous starters this week.  Hope I'm wrong, but my pre-season optimism has been on point so far so I have no reason to doubt my pre-season pessimism.

I understand Buxton (as well as Correa and Gallo) being removed during the blow-out yesterday, but I am not a fan of giving him today off, especially with Thursday's game being postponed. He is playing DH, by design, to maximize his playing time. I fully believe the best should play against the best, steel sharpens steel so to speak.

I figured just scheduled off day against a righty? If he's not playing tomorrow I'll be concerned.

That's the point....he needs a scheduled off day 6 days into the season, after 2.7 consecutive days at DH? Why would any healthy player need a day off?

His health should concern everyone.

Perhaps it was decided to not play Buxton day game after night game early in the season. Lefty tomorrow. I would have chosen playing tomorrow over today.

Hence...he's obviously not healthy.

Concerns me. Even more so when I saw how little he played in the spring. The Twins are concerned too.
