"There's so few pitchers like this.". Prepare to hear these words from Dick over and over this season.

Pitchers like Alcantara put to rest the myth of pitching the 3rd time through the order. It's as mental as it is physical. The pitchers know they have that lifeline. Give up a hit and they know they're done.. And that's what seperates him makes guys like him aces. They have the mental toughness to grind it out. I love watching guys like him work.

We are watching  the best pitcher we will see all year

I know the results are there, but I haven't been all that impressed.

There have been pitches to hit.

I don’t think that dispels the myth at all. Alcantara is an ace pitcher, not just a good pitcher, let alone average or below like we had last year

Alcantara is a fine pitcher, without question. The Twins' plan was to go after Alcantara early in the count and it didn't work and allowed the Cy Young pitcher to go for a complete game shutout. There were some hittable pitches, but he never really was threatened (so far).

I don't think I said anything about last year. What about this year. 5 starts. Lopez went 5.1

Kind of a throwback. Not dominant looking, even last year he was below league average in K%. But he seems to change speeds while staying ahead in the count and keeping people off balance.

Agreed.  The myth isn't a myth for a good number of pitchers.  Guys like Alcantara are the exception, which is why they're special.

It's almost fun to watch someone as good as Alcantara pitch. Moran, not so much. He needs to throw more strikes or he is hte 8th man in the bullpen. Maeda wasn't great, but not bad. almost gives one hope.

Mahle Maeda and Gray went 5 and Ryan 6

Holy cow, was that a 2 hour game? Alcantara only needed 100 pitches to throw a complete game shutout? Dang, I'm impressed. I am loving these quick games.

Their first starts of the year. The majority of pitchers across MLB only went that far into the games. A few longer, but most not. If next month they are still only going 5-6, come talk to me and I’ll likely agree. Until then, I don’t think you’ve dispelled anything.

It would be fun to see Arraez bat again in the bottom of the 9th

ahem

AHEM HINT HINT

Because the Twins need 1 run to tie the game

IT WOULD BE FUN TO SEE ARRAEZ BAT AGAIN IN THE 9TH

He would've come to bat had the Twins scored 10, too.  Just sayin.  Aim high.

I get guys need days off once in a while.  But it’s game 5 and Nick Gordon is leading off.

They clearly stopped short in the depth department.  This could be a problem again this year.

Sometimes you just need to congratulate the other guy. Alcantara was outstanding tonight. A couple of hard hit outs from Gordon and Miranda, a couple of decent singles, a nubber the other way, and very little else. Impressive.

Maeda was decent or even a little better. Miami is a weak hitting team but Kenta looked like his old self. That's good to see. Not much else to report.
