Carlos Correa is signed for six years and has exclusively been a shortstop in his career. However, he is a big man and he agreed to play third base in his negotiations with the New York Mets before the Mets backed out of the deal. The Twins have several shortstops among their top prospects, some of whom will most likely be moved to other positions as they advance to the big leagues.

Who will be the person to succeed Correa as the Twins' regular shortstop? For purposes of this poll, "regular shortstop" would be defined as the player who plays the most games at the position in a season.

7 years from now is going to be someone not currently in the organization yet.  The rest of the guys listed will either be moved to another position or team before that time.

Maybe Miller but more likely someone not yet in the org.

I picked Miller. I think he profiles as the a top defensive shortstop and his ETA to the majors would figure to be 3-4 years from now. I suspect Lee, Lewis and Martin will all be in the majors and manning other positions by the time it is determined that Correa will move off shortstop.

Of those named above, I think Miller is the best fielder and Lee is the best hitter. Lewis is the best combination hitter and fielder. If CC4 plays SS for more than 3 years, I say someone not named above, will be the SS to succeed CC4.

Yep, that's why I even mentioned Miller. IMO, he's the only guy with a legit shot at SS in the foreseeable future.

I mostly agree with this, but there are a couple international guys already in the org that have at least some shot as well.  Maybe De Andrade or Bryan Acuna if they pan out well.

Lewis or Lee only if something goes wrong with Correa forcing him off the position earlier than expected.

I think in a season or two the twins could look like this.  (Potentially)

C Jeffers

1B Miranda

2B Julien/Martin

3B Lee

SS Correa

LF Gordon/Larnach/Someone new

CF Buxton

RF Lewis

DH Julien/Larnach

And I'm not even saying that this would necessarily be better either, just saying this is what it could look like?

Hard to say when that'll happen for sure. If it's less than 4 years my money is on Lewis. If it's more Miller. If all possible I'd like to keep it in house.

I can barely plan out what is happening next week, let alone 5-6 years from now.

That said, I don't think that player is out of high school at this point, whoever that could be.

I should add last year's 14th round pick Omari Daniel to that list too.  His defense was apparently very well regarded for a high school SS, so if the bat develops, who knows?

We are guessing who is the Twins shortstop six years from now?

I'll take - I don't know who will play shortstop for the Twins six years from now.

Six years ago, Polanco, Kepler, and Buxton were Twins. So maybe Jorge is a guess, if Correa is done.
