Eagle Mountain is 2300 feet above sea level which is 15 miles from Lake Superior which is 600 feet above sea level. Steep incline!

Steep is right and the SHT is known to be difficult because of it.

Fun fact Lake Superior has more shipwrecks per square mile than any other body of water. I've sailed it extensively and would chalk it up to the steepness of the waves which are much closer together than the oceans.

Back when I used to go to Duluth often, there was a East-West street I drove often and thought I would not want to try to go from a stop on that street, in winter, without a clutch to control wheel spin.

If you don't think Duluth is hilly, just take a drive around there with a 5 speed.

For me it was a muggy 4.4 miles which my watch said was 2200 feet. I'm a little sceptical of that number, but whoever called Minnesota flat hasn't hoofed it around Duluth.

Make sure you do some fun stuff too. Enjoy the time off!

Thanks! I'm off until Sept. 13 ... heading to Florida next week where I see the Mussels will be in town all week, so ... will likely be at one or two of those games. Was off last week, too ... was at the Jersey shore with friends :)

I remember driving a manual transmission on snow covered streets in Duluth, during the winter of 1972.  Not a lot of fun.

Do you wear a wetsuit when you are out in the waves? You know ... to protect yourself from the cold water

Jersey shore? I grew up there. We had a place a few miles from the coast. Brielle, Point Pleasant, Mantoloking, Lavalette, Ortley Beach, Seaside Heights. The boardwalk is a blast. Great area!

No but if I'm solo or with newbies I teather to a jackline. Don't want to fall off the boat if your companions don't know how to retrieve you!

I was in Margate ... was fun ... there was an air show out of Atlantic City but you could see plenty down where we were, especially since many of the planes looped up and around and back by the beach we were on ... got some good videos

Been a while since I've been sailing. Was in Australia years ago with my sister and bro-in-law (he was an expert sailor), when we rented a sailboat and sailed around the Whitsunday Islands for 4 days. Was awesome!

Yep, Margate is just outside of AC. AC is a strange place. Nothing like Vegas.

I hear Verlander left his start today, with an owwwee.  Anyone with more info?

Supposedly a calf muscle tightened up on him.

Smeltz isn't suited to short or fireman relief but long relief, I think so. Getting Pagán in and then Devin soaking up some innings makes the pen better overall

Went to Soxtalk.com to get a few laughs after being swept at home by Arizona,  Comical they have no filters

Ah, how come we don't have a hot take emoji?

Agree. This is the only role for Smeltzer. Pagan? How about Uber?

Is there any way that the Rogers brothers could be more different as pitchers? It's incredible.
