farmerguychris Verified Member Posted August 25, 2022 Posted August 25, 2022 According to H-Young Park, the Twins have signed former speedster Billy Hamilton to a minor league contract. Don't know how much he's got left in the tank, but I like the idea of possibly putting him in the OF instead of a back-up infielder out there. Anyone know if he's also a switch hitter?
ScottyB Verified Member Posted August 25, 2022 Posted August 25, 2022 Switch hitter. Batted .077 in 20 games with Miami this year.

After watching first Gordon and then Beckham miss on plays the last 2 games, its his ability to play the OF that intrigues me - not his plate skills.
RpR Verified Member Posted August 25, 2022 Posted August 25, 2022 His fielding specs. do not look bad but not a hitter of any plus.

His .111 against right-handed pitching is dragged down by a .000 against lefties. If he gets called up, watch for him to platoon with Garlick.
Hosken Bombo Disco Community Moderator Posted August 25, 2022 Posted August 25, 2022 He has been known to lay down a bunt. I therefore do not see him being called up ?

Doctor Gast Verified Member Posted August 26, 2022 Posted August 26, 2022 I like it, maybe he'll pick up some hitting here. I believe he was sent to FSL.

LA Vikes Fan Verified Member Posted August 26, 2022 Posted August 26, 2022 OMG, this is depressing. I hate to ask but does this mean that Larnach is not coming back this season? I was kind of hoping he would be the replacement for Cave. Not sure the Billy Hamilton is anything but Cave, a few steps faster, several years older, and with much less power. By the way, whatever happened to Michael Conforto? Last I heard he was targeting a September return. Any chance we can grab him for something less than a contract beyond 2022 and 2023? Maybe a pillow contract to be a DH for this September and playing in the OF next season? This FO previously did a creative deal with the Scott Boras client, I say go for it again!
