If Mahle goes on IL he misses 2 starts - one in Houston and one against the SF Giants. Sounds like that may happen.

The way this team played against Houston the first series this year, they wouldn't win with Sandy Koufax on the mound.

I'm going to question how Mahle was allowed to even start this game, much less pitch into the 3rd inning.

Velocity off by that much isn't something that can be benignly explained. And it had to have showed up during his warmup. If not then, which I don't understand, at least by the 1st hitter.

For an organization that treats players with extreme caution, no less.

That seems pretty negligent to me.

With you, but unless the guy warming him up or Mahle says something himself, they might not be able to see it until the radar gun shows them where he's at.

Sanchez would absolutely know in the pen, as would the pitching coach during warm-ups.

But granting your point, they obviously knew right away once the game started. Anyone paying attention on TV knew. Morneau knew. They knew and were concerned in the dugout immediately in the top of the 1st.

100% agreed, they should have and probably did know in warmups that Mahle was hurt, and Sands or Bundy or whoever should have started this game.

…Same thing occurred with my NFL fandom -- fan of a player and then the team won the Super Bowl soon after and that's where I stayed.

So, not a Viking fan…obviously.
