Getting settled into the new place, and Gary goes yard!

I still maintain that Kaat is a bad announcer unless you are looking for pure nostalgia

I find him mediocre, maybe on the bad side.

I liked him a few years ago but upon further exposure to his commentary, he's trending down a lot.

If the Twinkies can get through this injury/COVID laden period and maintain their lead in the Central (5 or more games ahead of 2nd place), then I give them high marks for their grit and determination!  Go Twins!!!

Kepler!!

Do you know what his injury was that kept him out the last few days?

Yeah. He kinda gets lost in the glut of decent young hitters the Twins farm system has produced in recent years

I mostly didn't like him because I dislike bad outfield defense but not only is Trevor hitting, his defense has improved a lot by the eye test.

I believe it was a strained quad.

Tweaked his quad

One can't predict random finger injuries that never seem to heal. Random crap happens to players and particularly pitchers and failing to predict those things isn't "dumb".

Not to mention that he missed nearly all of last year with an injury, which would have caused the same fans mad about Dobnak to be mad about Smeltzer. We've got 3 years of control of Smeltzer, just like we have 3 with Dobnak, only that Dobnak's arb numbers are locked down and Smeltzer's aren't. It's not a big deal at all.

Which seems to be backed up by his team leading WAR.  At least to some degree anyway.

His return is badly needed on this roster.

Indeed.  He threw long toss before the game and was able to ramp it up, according to the radio.  They'll see how he responds and go from there, I guess.

I've been seeing a therapist lately. Last time I went, I told him I've been singing "The Green Green Grass Of Home" a lot. I just can't get that song out of my head.

He told me I have Tom Jones Syndrome.

"Is that common?" I asked.

"It's not unusual."

Oh great ... now I have both songs going through my head. You get a punishment for that!

(And the younger folks in these here parts are looking at going ... 'wtf? I don't get it'

Okay, so I say nice things about Trevor's defense and that happens.

I'm listening on the radio, I wondered if that was the case.

It didn't really change anything, the ball was almost uncatchable, but Larnach sure made it look ugly.

Ha!  I guess I'll just be disappointed a little later in the play then.

I think I'm going to have to research and write a thread about how old trades are really coming to fruition for this front office. Their trade history looks exponentially better today than it did going into last year's deadline. Smeltzer, Duran, Celestino, et al are a big reason why this team is in first place right now.

The pace of this game seems to be pretty good.  I like that, especially on a double header day.
