Thegrin Verified Member Posted August 28, 2021 Posted August 28, 2021 Don't be so quick to jettison Albers. He could be the Twins version of Jamie Moyers. Lets see what he does for the rest of the year.
Gatormandd Verified Member Posted August 29, 2021 Posted August 29, 2021 I think "Baddoo Bashing" may have the FO a little gun-shy about creating any potential 40-man roster issues, the good news is that (I think/hope/sacrificing some KFC that it happens) they are going to set up for the Astros/Cubs/2021 Orioles plan of going all youth, so the 40 should be properly flushed this off-season, scabs will be signed to pitch innings, and as the youth gets ready to roll, said scabs will be flushed. I don't see the Twins competing until 24, so there will be trades to move out most of the regulars (Buxton, Sano, Kepler, Arraez) that they can get a prospecty-return on as well. It's going to get a lot worse before it gets better, but a refocus has been needed since the FO was afraid to pull the trigger on an ace this season, and nickel-and-dimed it with two crappy SPs; instead of getting one good one and finding anyone (couldn't have been much worse) to rotate through the 5th SP spot (kinda like what we are doing now, lol. I would use a military analogy, but it would be in bad taste (though pretty darn accurate, sadly) when discussing the FO "strategy".
Linus Verified Member Posted August 29, 2021 Posted August 29, 2021 Why would anyone think Jordan B is ready for the big leagues? He’s inconsistent at AA.
Otto von Ballpark Old-Timey Member Posted August 29, 2021 Posted August 29, 2021 Charlie Barnes was just optioned this morning, so someone else will be joining the rotation this week. (Presumably Joe Ryan.)
Roaddog Verified Member Posted August 29, 2021 Posted August 29, 2021 I'm not sure about anyone else, but i think I've seen enough from Charlie Barnes.

Rosterman Verified Member Posted August 29, 2021 Posted August 29, 2021 Balazovic needs at least one start in the majors this year. Maybe that makeup game at Yankee stadium. That would ne eye opener for him. Strotman needs to be the next arm up, and Dobnak needs to replace Gant, pushing Gant to the pen. Yep, the Twins can do a shuffle. Keep the spirits of St. Paul high and send Jax back down for the final season run, too...we have seen what he and Barnes can do, and if both are here for spring training, they may have tackled issues during winter ball. Strotman, Ryan, Moran and Miranda all need to be added in September. The Twins need to remove two guys from the 28-man to accomplish this, compounded by the fact that they maybe have to let Farrell, Dobnak and possibly Law still play out the season in the big leagues. Unless Dobnak is lights out, he is a candidate to be designated for assignment as no one will grab his contract and the Twins can still have him come 2022. Law is...well, fighting for a spot against Garcia, Barraclough, Gibaut, maybe Minaya, possibly Gant, Garza Jr. and Coulombe. I'm sorry, bye-bye to your close Colome, unless you really think he is a worthwhile possible signing for 2022. You jsut don't have room for him when auditioning for the new year. Let Duffey handle to job. Gotta make a hard decision on Thorpe, who you can just send back down if you wish. And do we rally need to see Pineda pitch again? I can get excited about giving 4-5 starts to Strotman, Ryan and Balazovic as the season winds down, can applaud Albers if he keeps shining and becoming one of those wonderful stories, and that Ober can still pitch another 25-30 innings and not hurt his arm. I'm thru with free agents to be, can live without any minor league free agents who will still be minor league free agents come 2022 and don't need a roster spot tryout in September, and hope the Twins can still break the million mark in attendance for 2021.
Dodecahedron Twins Daily Jail Posted August 30, 2021 Posted August 30, 2021 I'm not sure what's more interesting: Baldelli saying that experience is important, or someone making a jpeg with the quote. Experience schmexperience! I only fly on jet planes if the pilot has 0 experience flying aircraft. Amateur heart surgeons are the best heart surgeons, my pappy always said. He said that right up until, well... nevermind.

Seriously though, there's no reason for any of the 4 mentioned not to be with the Twins at this point. Better late than never I guess... "I do believe experience is important. Maybe we'll try that later, after we try everything else." 'Why not try it now?' "Now's not the time for experience." 'I see. When will be the right time?' "They'll get experience when I say so. That's what I meant by 'important.' It's important that I get to choose when they get experience."
