stringer bell Verified Member Posted May 16, 2021 Posted May 16, 2021 Not a good start to this inning.
Mill1634 Verified Member Posted May 16, 2021 Posted May 16, 2021 Gotta pull Maeda now. This is all about feel. Clearly doesn't have it this inning. Bullpen has been bad, but gotta ride (or die) with them at this point.
PDX Twin Verified Member Posted May 16, 2021 Posted May 16, 2021 I don't suppose that the A's could pull a Twins and not score again this inning...
cHawk Community Moderator Posted May 16, 2021 Posted May 16, 2021 If only our pen wasn’t historically bad at stranding runners...
PDX Twin Verified Member Posted May 16, 2021 Posted May 16, 2021 What's the expected number of Oakland runs for this game? I'm guessing 8.
Mill1634 Verified Member Posted May 16, 2021 Posted May 16, 2021 That is middle school baseball stuff right there. Oakland runner ran to third (like he should)..catcher should run him ALL the way back to the base, tag em both. Guy who ran from 2nd to 3rd is out, and 2 outs now...come on...
Nine of twelve Verified Member Posted May 16, 2021 Posted May 16, 2021 Totally bungled by Rortvedt. First, don't throw the ball because there was another runner advancing to third base. Run him back. Second, get out of the way. Third, expect a good ass-chewing by the manager back in the dugout.
bighat Verified Member Posted May 16, 2021 Posted May 16, 2021 Turning it off. Rortvedt doesn't belong in the bigs, Andrus played him like a fiddle. Another embarrassing effort by the Twins on all sides: pitching, hitting, and fielding. It was only a matter of time before the fun was over. It's over.
cHawk Community Moderator Posted May 16, 2021 Posted May 16, 2021 ffs Duffey. How do you regress that much in one offseason
Mill1634 Verified Member Posted May 16, 2021 Posted May 16, 2021 Larnach set up for that throw like a T-ball player...

Mill1634 Verified Member Posted May 16, 2021 Posted May 16, 2021 Duffey should've gotten out of the inning with only 1 runner scored...this isn't on him
Mill1634 Verified Member Posted May 16, 2021 Posted May 16, 2021 If Rortvedt is still in this game next inning, Rocco should be canned on the spot
cHawk Community Moderator Posted May 16, 2021 Posted May 16, 2021 IDK who I’m supposed to blame for this. Duffey for not being able to strike anyone out? Rortvedt for being a ****ing idiot? Maeda for loading the bases?

Well, maybe he'll get a ticket for a trip to St. Paul. Jeffers seems to have found his stroke across the river.

Eventually a message has to be sent. That could very easily be the difference between winning and losing this game. Physical errors are one thing, but a mental mistake like that, especially out of your catcher, is inexcusable.
Mill1634 Verified Member Posted May 16, 2021 Posted May 16, 2021 Best inning from Duffey all year. Great to see. Deserves much better than whatever that 5th inning was

That hit gives him a chance at redemption.
Mill1634 Verified Member Posted May 16, 2021 Posted May 16, 2021 This isn't shocking to anybody, but Simmons is a black hole in the lineup
bighat Verified Member Posted May 16, 2021 Posted May 16, 2021 Remember when Simmons was hitting .325 and driving in runners, really hitting the ball square, and overall looking surprisingly good at the plate? He's been dreadful since the first 2 weeks of the season. About as bad as can get on this team - and there are a lot of bad hitters to contend with. He's so slow. Must hit into a DP per game.
Marek Houston Wichita Wind Surge - AA SS On Saturday, Houston went 3-for-5 and scored two runs. After a short slump, he is now back over .290 on the season. Explore Marek Houston News >
