cHawk Community Moderator Posted April 17, 2021 Posted April 17, 2021 Our bullpen has a 10+ ERA when we are ahead. Why? And when we’re behind, by a little bit, it’s usually fine. Why?
sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted April 17, 2021 Posted April 17, 2021 It means “Shake my head”Thanks.
jun Verified Member Posted April 17, 2021 Posted April 17, 2021 Alcala as the mop up guy?Rocco clearly does not know how to use his bullpen.
Danchat Verified Member Posted April 17, 2021 Posted April 17, 2021 Well, it would appear our bullpen is a bigger issue than I thought... yikes. I thought Dobnak was turning a corner with his new pitch, and Thielbar had looked good up until he suddenly forgot how to throw the curveball...

jkcarew Verified Member Posted April 17, 2021 Posted April 17, 2021 Alcala as the mop up guy?It saves the guys with 89 mph fastballs for leverage situations.
sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted April 17, 2021 Posted April 17, 2021 Garver starts us off right!

whosafraidofluigirussolo Verified Member Posted April 17, 2021 Posted April 17, 2021 Making quick work of the other side, too.
Danchat Verified Member Posted April 17, 2021 Posted April 17, 2021 Tortuga with the 7 pitch, 3 out inning! Make him our closer!
cHawk Community Moderator Posted April 17, 2021 Posted April 17, 2021 Legit question - Do we really only have four good relievers? (Duffey, Rogers, Robles, and Alcala) Because if we do we’re in SERIOUS trouble.
sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted April 17, 2021 Posted April 17, 2021 Turtle turns in a 123 inning.
Mill1634 Verified Member Posted April 17, 2021 Posted April 17, 2021 Total stinker after we took the lead. I just thought, maybe this one time, that we would take the lead and runaway with it. Nope. I didn’t understand going back to dobnak after we took the lead and it bit us in the butt. He had some bad luck on the two pop ups, but he’s a pitch to contact guy. That’s gonna happen moreso when he’s in the game. I’m also against the walk against trout. I get it if it’s a new AB, but not on a 2-2 count. At least throw 2 balls in the dirt and force him to take them. Odds are he will, but it’s worth the bet. As far as thorpe goes, thought he looked okay. He deserves the next start next time one of the 5 regulars can’t go. I really hope Byron buxton is back tomorrow, he’s Exactly what we need, but I’m expecting a buxton to IL, Rooker activated move tomorrow. Leads me to my final point, whenever I hear Rocco or the FO talk about an injury, I don’t believe a damn word they say. Whether it’s intentional or not, it’s the road they’ve chosen to take the entire tenure.
jun Verified Member Posted April 17, 2021 Posted April 17, 2021 I said this bullpen is going to be a problem before the season even started. It's actually worse than I thought. It's probably one of the worst.

cHawk Community Moderator Posted April 17, 2021 Posted April 17, 2021 Those are the four best relievers, not sure I'd say all 4 are goodWhich one is not good
Mill1634 Verified Member Posted April 17, 2021 Posted April 17, 2021 Which one is not goodDuffey is in jeopardy if his fastball velo doesn’t return
cHawk Community Moderator Posted April 17, 2021 Posted April 17, 2021 Duffey is in jeopardy if his fastball velo doesn’t returnOh yeah. Who else do we have tho? Thorpe? Anderson? Stashak?
Hosken Bombo Disco Community Moderator Posted April 17, 2021 Author Posted April 17, 2021 Duffey is in jeopardy if his fastball velo doesn’t returnHe doesn’t have movement on it either

cHawk Community Moderator Posted April 17, 2021 Posted April 17, 2021 So far only Alcala is reliable...IK, I hope the other three come around.
Mill1634 Verified Member Posted April 17, 2021 Posted April 17, 2021 Oh yeah. Who else do we have tho? Thorpe? Anderson? Stashak?Thorpe probably isn’t a reliever, maybe a long man. Anderson is below league average, and stashak is probably a notch above league average. Of the 3, he is closest to being “good”
