Linus Verified Member Posted March 28, 2021 Posted March 28, 2021 Another anemic performance with the bats.
Nine of twelve Verified Member Posted March 28, 2021 Posted March 28, 2021 The Red Sox announcers are saying this game decides the Mayor's Cup. So something to play for. I suppose that's true, but is it something worth playing for?
BeatTheRich Verified Member Posted March 29, 2021 Posted March 29, 2021 I suppose that's true, but is it something worth playing for? Your question answered two posts below that. Don't be lazy now.
sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted March 29, 2021 Author Posted March 29, 2021 It isn't so much about the results as the process. At least that is what the pro says. This could be a really boring game thread intro, but if i put the work into it, eventually the results will follow... Things to think about:1. Winder winds and delivers! (sorry, i just had to get that out of my system)2. Remember when Sano played 3rd and Polanco short? This lineup could jump-start the bomba squad! (is it positive or negative to ground? Important to get this right!)3. Hit the cut off*.4. Reference pop culture, but be patient if no one gets it. This is a wonderful place to cross pollinate culture. (who knows, some here might even call it "soda")5. Only a few more days until April Fool's. Wait for it... Twins:0. Josh Winder (R ) P1. Luis Arraez ( L) 2B2. Mitch Garver (R ) C3. Jorge Polanco ( S ) SS4. Max Kepler ( L) RF5. Miguel Sano (R ) 3B6. Jake Cave ( L) CF7. Willians Astudillo (R ) 1B8. Brent Rooker (R ) LF9. Kyle Garlick (R ) DH Pirates:0. Chase De Jong (R ) P1. Adam Frazier ( L) 2B2. Ke'Bryan Hayes (R ) 3B3. Bryan Reynolds ( S ) LF4. Gregory Polanco ( L) DH5. Kevin Newman (R ) SS6. Phillip Evans (R ) RF7. Michael Perez ( L) C8. Erik Gonzalez (R ) 1B9. Anthony Alford (R ) CF * I did what you see there.

sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted March 29, 2021 Author Posted March 29, 2021 Up 4-2 in the 5th. I missed some excitement, eh?
Nine of twelve Verified Member Posted March 30, 2021 Posted March 30, 2021 Keep in mind that the spring training game thread means nothing. It's just to get the members in shape for the regular season. Gotta work out the kinks and so forth, get our timing down. For example, notice how Chief has not said anything noteworthy yet? Oh, wait... Never mind.

sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted March 30, 2021 Author Posted March 30, 2021 Pirates called for too many men on the ice, start the game with DH in the penalty box. sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted March 30, 2021 Author Posted March 30, 2021 Hayes with an unassisted shorthanded goal in the first. Let's get it back!
sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted March 30, 2021 Author Posted March 30, 2021 Is that our opening day line up? And Shoemaker ... um ...But not opening day... which is the next game. If there is order to things, our #5 preceeds our #1.
ashbury Verified Member Posted March 30, 2021 Posted March 30, 2021 Hayes with an unassisted shorthanded goal in the first.Today you're being a total puckhead.
Squirrel Community Moderator Posted March 30, 2021 Posted March 30, 2021 But not opening day... which is the next game. If there is order to things, our #5 preceeds our #1.I wasn't meaning Shoemaker is our opening day pitcher ... but that the lineup was. My separate comment about Shoemaker was giving up a homerun. That was it.
sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted March 30, 2021 Author Posted March 30, 2021 Bases loaded, 1 out...

sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted March 30, 2021 Author Posted March 30, 2021 Today you're being a total puckhead. Yup. Alas, there is a limit... what is the hockey equivolent for a sac fly?
sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted March 30, 2021 Author Posted March 30, 2021 Tie game, 1-1 in second by the by. They scored all on 1 atbat. We scored on a non-atbat.

MNT1996 Verified Member Posted March 30, 2021 Posted March 30, 2021 I really hope the front office will be quick with the trigger finger on firing the hitting coach if the offense starts off slow this regular season, because between the offensive regression last season and this spring's performance it's looking pretty dire.
Brock Beauchamp Site Manager Posted March 30, 2021 Posted March 30, 2021 I really hope the front office will be quick with the trigger finger on firing the hitting coach if the offense starts off slow this regular season, because between the offensive regression last season and this spring's performance it's looking pretty dire.I don’t think any team is “quick on the trigger” to fire a top level coach because the results can often lag considerably behind the process. A guy could have a great process and the team might flat-out suck for several weeks because baseball is a silly sport. But I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t concerned about the team’s relative lack of offense versus their capability since the end of 2019.
MMMordabito Verified Member Posted March 30, 2021 Posted March 30, 2021 Start him, call him later, doesn't matter, Dobber sets 'em down with 23 pitches, 18 strikes Can't remember who coined the term (Cash? Roberts?), but Dobnak may just be an out-getter.
ashbury Verified Member Posted March 30, 2021 Posted March 30, 2021 If hockey was the theme today, skating to a 1-1 tie is appropriate.
sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted March 30, 2021 Author Posted March 30, 2021 I like out-getter. Throw ball... Get out. Has a nice ring to it.
sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted March 30, 2021 Author Posted March 30, 2021 Is that the end of Spring Training?
