I feel your pain, although I'm not delirious enough to believe Bauer is coming to the Twins.

 

It looks like the Padres gave up Hudson Head, who is their #7 prospect and some lesser pieces. I looked him up online and he projects as a five tool center fielder, but he is only rookie ball and seems to be a work in progress. It seems to me the Twins could have made a much better offer without breaking the bank.

Time will tell whether this all works our for the Padres, but as a sports fan, you can only dream about having a team you've followed your whole life pushing all their chips into the middle and having no doubt that they are 100% "going for it"

 

It will be super interesting to look back in 10 years and track all of the prospects they've traded in the last 18 months.

 

It would also be great to see a 2019 San Diego top 30 prospect list and see how many of them have been traded.

Pineda and Maeda are written in ink. We’ll see what happens with Odorizzi. My point is that they have a very solid history of doing the thing you are critiquing them for not doing. As far as this year is concerned, the Padres are the only team that has made any significant pitching moves. It feels late to be adding, but that’s how the market has shaped up in a very strange year.

Clippard and a couple others are relievers. In an era of 6 inning starting pitcher I do believe a team a few relievers. Do relievers count as starters when they are relied upon?

This is about the most pessimistic, distrustful take on these various signings, and it’s really not grounded in the actual performances of these pitchers. I guess whatever makes baseball fun for you...
