Danchat Old-Timey Member Posted September 13, 2019 Posted September 13, 2019 Of course, Schoop gets a HR in a blowout... he really does have a penchant for that.
Mike Sixel Old-Timey Member Posted September 13, 2019 Posted September 13, 2019 I think that should be all we need to see of Stewart for the rest of the season. And following years
LaBombo Verified Member Posted September 13, 2019 Posted September 13, 2019 Not saying we're a bad club. I'm saying if a club doesn't have pitching, they're a bad club. Twins are pretty good. But Cleveland has a better pitching staff. The Twins played over their heads... well, out of their minds, really... for the first two months. Cleveland figured to have the edge on paper at the start of the season and to close the gap at some point, but in July the Twins seemed poised to hold them off despite the lack of a big move before the trade deadline. Now the Twins look like a franchise with a decade-long tradition of not making the playoffs. They're also a reminder of how hard it is to succeed the way the 1987 Twins did, with a lineup of sluggers and two good starters.
Bandit34 Provisional Member Posted September 13, 2019 Posted September 13, 2019 What I wouldn't give for the Twins to force me to eat the words I wrote this evening. If only we could make this miracle comeback.
Hosken Bombo Disco Community Moderator Posted September 13, 2019 Posted September 13, 2019 Closer game; still not quite “close”...
LaBombo Verified Member Posted September 13, 2019 Posted September 13, 2019 And following years Thanks, that definitely required a clarification from someone.
Bandit34 Provisional Member Posted September 13, 2019 Posted September 13, 2019 Either win this game or it's off to the chopping block in Cleveland. How I wish we had not left our very worst pitcher Stewart in the most important game of the year so far.
LaBombo Verified Member Posted September 13, 2019 Posted September 13, 2019 Usually late runs to close a deficit bail out a pitcher, but these runs are making Stewart's performance look waaaaaaaay worse.
LaBombo Verified Member Posted September 13, 2019 Posted September 13, 2019 Tying run comes to the plate!!! On a related note... "No more Kohl Stewart!!!"
Bandit34 Provisional Member Posted September 13, 2019 Posted September 13, 2019 Hold your breath and hope for a 500 footer.
Hosken Bombo Disco Community Moderator Posted September 13, 2019 Posted September 13, 2019 Hold your breath and hope for a 500 footer. Well it’s up to Polanco now, so... 435 footer?
Hosken Bombo Disco Community Moderator Posted September 13, 2019 Posted September 13, 2019 Rocco getting Rogers good and lathered up for... what reason again?
Bandit34 Provisional Member Posted September 13, 2019 Posted September 13, 2019 Season on the brink right here. And I am not exaggerating. Go ahead and tell me going into Cleveland after a 2-4 homestand is not disastrous. This is a crucial game.
LaBombo Verified Member Posted September 13, 2019 Posted September 13, 2019 Two AB's with the bases loaded, no more runs...
Hosken Bombo Disco Community Moderator Posted September 13, 2019 Posted September 13, 2019 FRE, as advertised
Bandit34 Provisional Member Posted September 13, 2019 Posted September 13, 2019 Well done, Fernando. And thanks for never doing that for us...like ever!
jz7233 Provisional Member Posted September 13, 2019 Posted September 13, 2019 Twins can now leave Stewart and Hildenberg behind and travel to Cleveland. That might save some cash for the team.
jz7233 Provisional Member Posted September 13, 2019 Posted September 13, 2019 Tying run comes to the plate!!! On a related note... "No more Kohl Stewart!!!" 2 big strikeouts to leave the bases loaded. Here comes Hildenberg. 6 runs behind now.
Bandit34 Provisional Member Posted September 13, 2019 Posted September 13, 2019 A 4 game lead is nothing in Baseball. In football, different story. In Baseball, it's nothing. It can be gone in a second. I really appreciated Morneau's commentary at the beginning of the game when he said that we needed to play desperate. This is why I am so frustrated. Putting Stewart and Hildenberger out there is not playing desperate.
Bandit34 Provisional Member Posted September 13, 2019 Posted September 13, 2019 Does everyone remember the movie "Little Big League", with the kid manager wigging out on the player? Well, I think someone needs to sit Cron down in the dugout and have a reenactment of that scene! He is striking out a lot!

Go ahead and tell me going into Cleveland after a 2-4 homestand is not disastrous. This is a crucial game. And compounded by a very dinged up lineup. Only consolation is that we're back on the road, where we've clearly played much better than at home the second half of the season.

jz7233 Provisional Member Posted September 13, 2019 Posted September 13, 2019 Yankees took the lead in HR now.
LaBombo Verified Member Posted September 13, 2019 Posted September 13, 2019 False alarm... Another no-show from the Great Rally Pumpkin... sigh.
notoriousgod71 Verified Member Posted September 13, 2019 Posted September 13, 2019 At least the six runs allowed from pitchers who should not be on this roster didn't come back to bite us.
Krabby5 Verified Member Posted September 13, 2019 Posted September 13, 2019 Does anyone think there is a potential playoff team we can beat full strength or not?Full strength..yes. But they aren’t even close to full strength, so it will be ugly...IF they make the playoffs. You can’t make it up with the sports in this state.
Richie the Rally Goat Community Moderator Posted September 13, 2019 Posted September 13, 2019 It's a product of poverty and having a ton of ENL students (English as a new language). My big initiative this year is independent reading. Took all my classes to the library and the kids were actually pumped to pick out books to read. Even kids that I thought would be resistant we excited to pick out books to read. Definitely a challenge, but by the end of the year kids reading at a 3rd/4th grade level are reading at a 6th/7th grade level, writing well, and for the most part, moving onto 10th grade ELA. This is why I catch up on the game threads! What a great way to start my Friday! Keep up the great work!
