rghrbek Verified Member Posted August 14, 2019 Posted August 14, 2019 Gee almost time to think about pinch hitting...
Darius Verified Member Posted August 14, 2019 Posted August 14, 2019 And we wonder why Gibson nibbles around the strike zone. When he throws it over, not so good things tend to happen.I don’t know what the deal is. They showed a graphic during the game. Gibson has the second highest swing and miss rate on his breaking pitch in the MLB (exactly 50%). It’s higher than Corbin and Clevinger (widely considers to have some of the best breaking stuff in the game). He’s got the stuff. He just didn’t trust it. He’s forced to throw a fastball eventually, and catches too much of the plate.
SpicyGarvSauce Verified Member Posted August 14, 2019 Posted August 14, 2019 Could go for another Garv bomb....
Darius Verified Member Posted August 14, 2019 Posted August 14, 2019 Schoop got a meaningful hit?Eh, one on first, one out in the top of the fourth....not high leverage enough for Schoop.
PDX Twin Verified Member Posted August 14, 2019 Posted August 14, 2019 Pitching around Gibby with the base open?
MNT1996 Verified Member Posted August 14, 2019 Posted August 14, 2019 Garver please break the bases loaded curse
mrtwinsfan Old-Timey Member Posted August 14, 2019 Posted August 14, 2019 Eh, one on first, one out in the top of the fourth....not high leverage enough for Schoop.Expecting Double play there , not a 2b
nokomismod Verified Member Posted August 14, 2019 Posted August 14, 2019 I wouldn't want to pitch to Kirk I mean Kyle Gibson either
rghrbek Verified Member Posted August 14, 2019 Posted August 14, 2019 Eh, one on first, one out in the top of the fourth....not high leverage enough for Schoop. It is a one run game, and for this guy? That is as high leverage as he is gong to get.
VATwinsFan Verified Member Posted August 14, 2019 Posted August 14, 2019 At least Gibson hasn't walked the Brewers' pitcher to the load the bases. Yet.
PDX Twin Verified Member Posted August 14, 2019 Posted August 14, 2019 Gonzalez's Gio-coordinates must be off.
rghrbek Verified Member Posted August 14, 2019 Posted August 14, 2019 Gio's pitch count off the charts high
John Kelsey Verified Member Posted August 14, 2019 Posted August 14, 2019 Chased ball four three times.
bighat Verified Member Posted August 14, 2019 Posted August 14, 2019 Bases loaded, Garver strikes out and it's very possible the Twins don't score this inning. Unreal.
VATwinsFan Verified Member Posted August 14, 2019 Posted August 14, 2019 I guess you can't bomba every at bat.
MNT1996 Verified Member Posted August 14, 2019 Posted August 14, 2019 I'm starting to wonder if teams are just going to start pitching the Twins into bases loaded situations if this continues Edit: Nevermind!
PDX Twin Verified Member Posted August 14, 2019 Posted August 14, 2019 Chased ball four three times. I can't like this, but I agree with it. Maybe because RBI is no longer an important statistic?
IndyTwinsFan Verified Member Posted August 14, 2019 Posted August 14, 2019 Gonna blow this bases loaded situation. I can see it already.
Darius Verified Member Posted August 14, 2019 Posted August 14, 2019 Garver is slowly developing a Schoop-level ability to create an out in a monster situation.
bighat Verified Member Posted August 14, 2019 Posted August 14, 2019 Chased ball four three times. Bad AB. "This team isn't good with the bases loaded" isn't an excuse for anyone, not sure why people keep saying that, like it's something the Twins can't control. Someone needs to teach these guys how to make contact and hit sac flies.
