Not a bad start by Berrios today, considering all the gnashing of teeth and beating of breast.

Yes , not bad, expect better from an “ace”, still in line to lose to a rookie with three major league starts

I don't think there's much argument that Clevinger and Bieber are better pitchers than Berrios right now, but I think a good argument can be made that Plesac and this Cyvale guy are pitching better than Berrios currently. Plus Cleveland has Kluber. Cleveland has scary depth with their pitching.

However:

Would you trade Berrios straight up for Clevinger?

Would you trade Berrios straight up for Bieber?

Would you trade Berrios straight up for Plesac?

Would you trade Berrios straight up for Civale?

 

Would Cleveland make any of these proposed trades. I think they make all 4 deals.

But he’s not an ace to you, so I would expect you to be complementary rather than “expecting better” from him.

Oh I would absolutely trade Berrios straight up for Clevinger or Bieber. Not a question in my mind.

Given the amount of negativity heaped by this individual on this thread, a 7-inning shutout wouldn't have been good enough.

yeah , not really even an argument , for years the Twins have played down the importance of a high quality pitching staff. If they make the playoffs it is obvious that they don’t have the pitching required to compete in playoff baseball.

I'm not sure if "played down" is the right term... more like "completely and totally failed to develop starting pitchers". Over the past 10 years, only Berrios and Gibson have developed into legitimate starting pitchers,and since the Twins have rarely tried to trade for starters, they've mostly relied on mid-tier free agent starters.

Clevinger and Bieber would be debatable, but Cleveland would do the Plesac and Civale trades in a heartbeat.

you constantly try to twist my words to prove me a fool. I don’t really appreciate that, it’s a silly game, the Twins consider Berrios an ace , I think he is overrated by them

I'll give you Clevinger. Same amount of service time but he is 3 years older at age 28. 

 

Bieber is pitching well this year and that is only one year. I think Cleveland makes this deal. 

 

But at least we've moved off of 4 Cleveland pitchers.  :)
