Bomba2026 Verified Member Posted July 25, 2019 Posted July 25, 2019 D. Smeltzer deserves to be the 5th starter. 1 run in 5 innings.....I like him. He reminds me of Bert B...And WTH was Kepler not in the starting lineup? Had he been in the game, defensively, we would have been better off. The Twins Pitchers need to go to Yoga to learn to focus...See you in Oct Yanks...

MNT1996 Verified Member Posted July 25, 2019 Posted July 25, 2019 I would be so curious to see what the score of this game would have been if Smeltzer started.
Aggies7 Old-Timey Member Posted July 25, 2019 Posted July 25, 2019 I would be so curious to see what the score of this game would have been if Smeltzer started. He should have started the 4th when it was obvious to anyone with eyeballs JO had less than nothing
operation mindcrime Verified Member Posted July 25, 2019 Posted July 25, 2019 Great performance from Odorizzi tonight!

Brock Beauchamp Site Manager Posted July 25, 2019 Posted July 25, 2019 He should have started the 4th when it was obvious to anyone with eyeballs JO had less than nothingIt really throws me for a loop whenever you abbreviate Odorizzi as "JO" because that's what Berrios went by for years...
DiscGolfer Verified Member Posted July 25, 2019 Posted July 25, 2019 Tough series to lose but Twins stayed with the Yankees blow for blow, very entertaining series. With a little extra help Twins can take these guys.
h2oface Old-Timey Member Posted July 25, 2019 Posted July 25, 2019 More like ODORIZZI GIVING UP ON THE GAME! Odorizzi didn't give up. He just didn't have it. That happens. It is the managers job to get him out of there. Baldelli decided that whatever happened, Odorizzi needed to eat innings. These games count. To throw one away in the 3rd or 4th is not what the fans pay for.
Aggies7 Old-Timey Member Posted July 25, 2019 Posted July 25, 2019 It really throws me for a loop whenever you abbreviate Odorizzi as "JO" because that's what Berrios went by for years...Haha yeah, or another not so nice nickname. I just don’t like typing out his name and there’s already been enough abuse of jakes tonight
Bandit34 Provisional Member Posted July 25, 2019 Posted July 25, 2019 3-6 homestand. Probably the worst that we could have expected. I suppose it could have been worse, but it's difficult to do worse than 3-6 at home. I wish we had an edge at home like other teams. Really never have since moving into Target Field.
twinsnorth49 Old-Timey Member Posted July 25, 2019 Posted July 25, 2019 Welp, losing to these guys always sucks but at least theTwins threw some punches the last couple of games, instead of doing the usual deer in the headlights routine. Too bad we just didn't have any heavyweights to land some haymakers from the mound, not named Devon Smeltzer anyway. Not much of a sliver lining I know.
DiscGolfer Verified Member Posted July 25, 2019 Posted July 25, 2019 Well, you weren’t wrong. Not quite what I was going for there
Jham Verified Member Posted July 25, 2019 Posted July 25, 2019 Hard to say when he’s played in 9 games this year. Might have helped us more if he played for tauchmanno kidding. where'd that kid come from? classic yankees. so annoying.
HawksNest Verified Member Posted July 25, 2019 Posted July 25, 2019 Lead in the division is down to 2 games. It's crunch time, schedule softens up. No more excuses. Let's go
h2oface Old-Timey Member Posted July 25, 2019 Posted July 25, 2019 Past mistakes don't make current mistakes okay. I want a fair game, not a tit-for-tat of mistakes. Hence.... umpires need to relieved of calling balls and strikes. The most unfair and tit-for-tat of mistakes daily.

It was almost 2-7. Like so close.
Bomba2026 Verified Member Posted July 25, 2019 Posted July 25, 2019 Oh I forgot....It was so nice of the Yankees to bring their own Umps with them...Will they be with them in the league playoffs?

To throw one away in the 3rd or 4th is not what the fans pay for.How could anyone have known that Smeltzer actually knows how to pitch? Noone else in that dugout or bullpen knows how to pitch, so I suppose Baldelli just figured it can't get any better with anyone else. Great job by Smeltzer, though, in keeping us in a game that really looked like we were going to be embarrassed.
rukavina Provisional Member Posted July 25, 2019 Posted July 25, 2019 The yankees - feel free to check my math - had an oba for the series of .445 and slugged .742. That is a team full of Barry Bonds...
DiscGolfer Verified Member Posted July 25, 2019 Posted July 25, 2019 Chicago and Miami coming up, good teams to play to get back on track.
Brock Beauchamp Site Manager Posted July 25, 2019 Posted July 25, 2019 It was almost 2-7. Like so close. To be fair, it was also really close to 4-5. Time to move on. The Twins get to beat up on crap teams for basically the rest of the season. It's time to pull it together, fix the bullpen, and take advantage of the rest of the year.
David HK Verified Member Posted July 25, 2019 Posted July 25, 2019 Well, the boys really battled. And once again, a young-un showed some real heart and soul. But this loss is on the 2 Jakes. Jake 1 because he didn't get the memo that we needed a veteran All-Star with a big contract to step up tonight. And Jake 2 for whatever the *cuss* he was doing out there tonight, making T-ball level plays. Sheesh... Oh, yes, before I forget- Hey, Falvine, some pitching help, please? Like, a month or so ago?
