Game Thread Twins @ Royals 6/22/19 1:15 PM CDT

[stringer bell]

The Twins battle the Royals today in game three of a four game series, currently tied 1-1.

On the mound Duffy (KC) vs. Berríos (MN).

We're two-thirds through the month of June and predictably there have been some slumps and swoons from the Twins. Of note, Pérez has a 5.91 ERA, Parker is at 10.20 and Magill at 11.88 this month. Hitters OPS: Castro .588, Schoop .646, Rosario .704, Sanó .737, Garver .747.

Going well in June, Berríos 1.31 ERA, Duffey 1.00 ERA in 9 IP, Rogers 1.13 in 8 IP with 5 saves. Hitters: Kepler .299 with a 1.084 OPS and Cruz .293 with a 1.043 OPS.

Schoop held out with a sore ankle today, so a limited bench.

Hate to see Schoop sit against a LHer.

Those were some weak ass hits. Work around the jam, Berrios! We have faith in you.

[mrtwinsfan]

Sano= pay attention, should of been a triple play

[70charger]

Man, Sano is a little more aware of that baserunner and they get a triple play there! That would have been awesome.

[70charger]

Also, let's take a moment to recognize Cron on that play. That was the definition of heads up.

Sano= pay attention, should of been a triple play

Sano has done that twice lately, WAKE UP!!!!

[Mill1634]

Fantastic play by Cron, and a nice houdiani act by Berrios to get out of that

[stringer bell]

Ho-hum routine scoreless first inning.

[PDX Twin]

I rarely defend Sano, but his principal play was on the runner coming back from home, not the guy coming from second. He was several feet on the home plate side of the base and had to retreat quickly (something that does not come easily to him).

[stringer bell]

Lots of first-pitch hitting.

[Mill1634]

SANO SLAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Woo hoo!!

[operation mindcrime]

SANO!!!!!!!!!!

[Nine of twelve]

Sano with a no-doubter! Two games in a row with a dinger. Hope he is turning the corner.

[70charger]

Maybe that'll pull him out of the slump?

[MNT1996]

Beautiful swing

[Circus Boy]

That's got to be a bummer for the Royals to go from first-and-third, no outs, on two pitches to three outs and no runs four pitches later.

[Aggies7]

Has high-leverage miguel turned the corner?

[Mill1634]

Cave is like 25 and already has grey in his beard. Yikes.

I wish Astudillo would've punched Whit Merrifield in the face!!!!!

[FlauerPauer]

When do you guys think Brent Rooker is going to get his chance? Been crushing AAA lately.

Really like Arraez. He may end up being a key piece in a trade moving forward.

I'm 32 with plenty of grey in my beard, and also bald

[MNT1996]

Cave is just a liability at this point

He's quite a distinguished 25.

[mickeymental]

cave should borrow sano's new bat.

[Nine of twelve]

Sano should not be bashed for his defense on the near-triple play. As PDX said he played it correctly. His responsibility during a rundown is to stay at least a few feet toward home plate from third base. If he's standing on the bag it creates a potential opening for the runner in the rundown to get back to the base. If anything it should have been Polanco or even Rosario backing up Sano at the base.

I think Rooker should borrow Cave's spot on the roster
