Pineda has had some problems with solo HRs recently, but outside of that he's been solid. He seems to have command over his pitches, with zero walks thus far (and I think he had 0 in his last start?). I'd keep throwing him out there and see if he improves.

Hits are good. Walks are good. Runs allowed good. The solo HR tell me he's still getting a "feel" for his stuff. The #1 thing I've always heard from guys coming back from surgery was not velocity...which actually increased many times...but just getting the "feel" for the rest of their stuff on a consistent basis.

Buxton hitting .285 at this point is quite the revelation - I know I certainly didn't think he'd hit this well. It seems his Spring Training was a sign of things to come.

This inning is very interesting to me. Can Duffey, with a big lead, keep his head in the game? Can he throw the CB for strikes and still show his new FB?

Yeah... looks like things aren't working out for Duffey so far. Well, it has been years since he's been good in the majors, so I can't act surprised.

 

Suddenly, we may need one of our better relievers to finish this game.

The breaking pitch looks good from Duffey, but you just can't throw a straight fastball in a hittable location to this power lineup

This isn't related to this game, but I saw the Rangers beat the Royals 16-1 with Danny Santana starting at SS and Logan Forsythe at 3B. And Santana's their leadoff hitter... weird!

So incredibly frustrating to see a guy like Duffey that you feel is always on the presicipse of actually being good, but just never seems to get there. SSS for 2019 and 1 game doesn't mean anything, and Johnson needs time to work with him still, but, grrrrrr!
